  1. Avoid the cheapo Honeywell one. I bought it and returned it. Very poor quality.
  2. Yes Bob Duncan let me play as much as I wanted. It is really a sweet machine. Ran very smooth at all speeds. Has the Pegas clamps. Love the return to zero feature after using the saw on an angle cut. If I was shopping for a new saw I would have jumped on it.
  3. Denny that is beautiful......
  4. One of the real secrets to heating and cooling is to avoiding large temperate swings. So if 60 is your magic number you need to maintain 55-56 when not in use. Why you ask? You thermostat / thermometer is reading air temperature. Your heater warms the air. Well in a shop you have lots of metal ( steel and cast iron). They take a long time to warm up. Many hours. So while you heated the air the cold metal keeps bringing the temperature down.
  5. Great start.
  6. Check with a kitchen remodeling contractor. Dorian is used for kitchen counter tops. You might be able to score a sink cut out or other waste.
  7. Klingspor is now selling Pegas scroll and band saws.
  8. Double heck.....when doing demos last weekend I had someone tell be he does not drill holes. He hammers a brad nail in then pulls it out with some pliers. "Where's your sign?"
  9. Nice picture of me talking about compound cutting. You should have introduced yourself. I would have loved to meet you. This was the 19th year for this show and I have attended a dozen of them. This was far and away the best and busiest one yet. Steve Good is truly and amazing person. I got to play with the new Pegas band and scroll and I meet lots of wonderful people.
  10. Make sure you stop by the NCWW (North Carolina Wood Workers) booth. That is one place some of SSV folks hang out.
  11. You can take any intarsia pattern and cut out of a single piece of wood. Then you can shape and stain/paint the various pieces. It is called segmentation and pieces made this way can be a beautiful and rewarding as any intarsia. Though I would suggest poplar vs pine as poplar stains and paints better.
  12. I have no connection to Klingspor or any other company. Klingspor will be holding their annual wooding working extravaganza on October 25 and 26 in Hickory NC. I know Steve Good will be there on both days and I also understand Bob Duncan, from Pegas will also be there. It is still up in the air but I might be doing demonstrations in the North Carolina Wood Worker booth again this year. Come say "Hey".https://www.woodworkingextravaganza.com/
  13. https://www.lowes.com/pd/47-75-in-x-7-98-ft-Smooth-White-Hardboard-Wall-Panel/3015239
  14. I know it is sometimes hard to judge size/scale from a photo but that appears to be a floor model unit and if so that is not a standard length scroll saw blade.
  15. I am not a HF fan. Whatever brand, type or style you get do your self a very big favor and get a quality blade made especially for a miter saw. Most saws come with poor quality combo blades only good for cutting construction lumber or rough cut lumber. If you ever want to make picture frames or other precision work you need a better blade.
  16. Sue Mey does have such a collection. They are silhouettes.
  17. Anyone hear from Iggy? He lives along the NC coast. I know that area took a hard hit.
  18. In use Danish Oil all the time though a different brand. I even use Danish Oil to dip small pieces and fret work. I wipe off the excess will blue paper towels or I blow off excess with my air compressor.
  19. There are a lot of factors that should determine the best way to attach and remove patterns. When working with plywood or patterns that have fine delicate sections I never use tape or shelving paper. The reason is removing tape from plywood will and not can lift away off fibers of wood. Pulling tape from delicate sections can pull off pieces. For the above I use 3M Super 77 spray adhesive and remove the patterns with mineral spirits.
  20. Based on you pictures it looks like western red cedar. I think it is also called Giant Cedar or Pacific Cedar. Western red cedar can vary in color from almost white to almost as dark as walnut. In fact I took a beginners intarsia class from Judy Gale Roberts and that was all we used. Look at the colors on this. Except for the eye ball it is all western red cedar.
  21. These are the other kind of door toppers. I have cut a few of the bigger ones. You have to be creative to cut a 30" piece on a 22" saw but it can be done. It is easier then you might think. They are attached with a small nail or screw. https://woodenteddybear.com/search?type=product&q=door
  22. Now I have flatten the ends before to make them easier to mount in the saw. I know Flying Dutchman does sell a flat end spiral. I can't image you can untwist a full blade one turn.
  23. Here is a great one. I have cut this and trust me it will challenge you. https://www.scrollsawartist.com/compound-cut-eiffel-tower.html Edited to add a picture of the one I cut.
  24. Gee Kevin....I hope the scammers are not SSV members because you just told them what to fix. Seriously people, especially seniors, fall for these scams. Very sad.
  25. Did you try Judy Gale Roberts or Kathy Wise website? They both are intarsia designers .
