  1. With my ADHD I have a hard enough time remembering what I had for dinner last night let alone what size blade is in the saw or if it is sharp. My scroll saw work is varied and I use a number of types and sizes of blades. Now I do not remove them if I am going for lunch or such. Only when I know I will not be in the shop a couple days.
  2. Berta I assume you are talking about your owl project. When I make something like that I never glue the backer on period. I allow the frame to keep it in place.
  3. Not only do I release the tension but if I know I won't be in the shop for a couple days I usually discard the blade.
  4. Another vote for Denny. Great service and an American business.
  5. Just remember water of wood will raise the grain so it might effect the surrounding area.
  6. Follow all the doctors orders. Keep us posted.
  7. I have nothing scientific o show it but I feel I get probably twice the cut time with Pegas MGT blades as I did with same size Flying Dutchman UR. Now Pegas are more aggressive so they may not be right for all cutting.
  8. Baltic Birch plywood is not like the plywood you get in places like Lowes, and Home Depot. Lowes and Home Depot may sell birch plywood but it is not the same. Yes iBB is made of layers but there are no voids. Baltic Birch, Finnish Birch and Russian Birch plywood are all made the same way. Typically BB comes in 5'x5' sheets.
  9. When I stack hardwood like walnut or maple 3 pieces are usually my limit. Some of the softer solid woods, like pine and poplar, I will stack 4 but I will not to exceed 1" total in any stacks.
  10. All good suggestions. I stack 4-6 pieces of 1/8 BB all the time. I also use other woods to stack cut. To make my stacks I use hot glue on all four corners. Clamp the pieces with spring clamps while appling the glue. If I have pieces with a slight bow I flip the pieces around, one up and one down, to eliminate the bow the best I can.
  11. I agree with Ray. If you are going to use a bit once then a HF but might be good enough but bits you use over and over you want a quality carbide blade. Consider Whiteside bits. They are made in NC.
  12. If you are in Louisville Woodcraft lists a store there. Also check other local lumber suppliers and millwork companies.
  13. Here is the link to the site Kevin mentioned but I did not see the Constitution. https://sheilalandrydesigns.com/
  14. Look back at some of the old threads you stared here on SSV. It might refresh your memory.
  15. I am not a big fan of crowntooth blades but that is because of the way they cut and not because of breakage. #9 blades are overkill in 3/4 pine. My first choice would be a #5 or even a #3 reverse tooth. You said you switched to a #5 and it worked fine. Were the #5 crowntooth as well? While it may be possible to have a bad batch it is not likely especially with brand name blades. Yes pushing can cause breakage.
  16. Yes they have a facility in Hickory NC in addition to several retail stores. It is also their US Headquarters. Actual many of their abrasives come from Germany.
  17. Lots of factors so in order to help you we need to know more. Do they break immediately or after a period of time? What size and brand blade are you using and what kind and thickness is the wood? Is it breaking at the clamps or in the middle?
  18. I am lucky. Klingspor has a couple locations in NC. The closest one is 5 minutes from my dentist office. I also belong to a couple wood working groups that use one of their locations for meetings and we do demos there from time to time. Well we did prior to Covid-19. I have tried many brands and I find the Klingspor paper, while more expensive, lasts a lot longer and is thus worth the upfront cost.
  19. I agree with Kevin. Ask $350 if it is mint.
  20. Kevin did that upper clamp conversion come from Bushton? Like you I have an older Ultra VS226.
  21. I learned when you post pictures like this on FB as a joke you better start cutting. I have orders for 30+
  22. Congrats.... I highly recommend you use the factory table. Very stable and easy to put together.
  23. Same here... in the past, but no more, I did get a couple of these direct ship from China items and was very dissatisfied with the quality.
  24. Hmmm....Brand = nobrand. Made and direct shipped from China with 2-3 month delivery. No warranty info and spec sheets said made of steel. All these are to me anyway STAY AWAY RED FLAGS.
