  1. To get a 1099-K tax form from your credit card processor you have to have over 200 credit card transactions per calendar year AND gross credit card sales over $20,000. We all wish we had that issue. No one cares about a few $100.
  2. If all you will be happy with is a top feed then pass on this. If you want to top feed only you need find a G4 or newer model.
  3. Tuner is there a farmer's market in your community or within say 1 hour? It would be a good place to get a space one weekend and see how it goes. Also look at Events and Activities in your local Craigslist. Craigslist is a great resource especially to find holiday bazaars in November / December.
  4. You can actually buy a device to measure for choking hazards: https://www.amazon.com/Safety-Small-Object-Choking-Tester/dp/B0062TNEOC/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1493205969&sr=8-1&keywords=choking+tube Seems like a lot to spend .
  5. Like Jollyred I use the toilet paper tube.
  6. Frank, I think it is color or colour as you say north of the border that I dislike. Between the two images you posted I prefer the unpainted bird. It is just too bright a chartreuse for my taste. As you can see from the below the natural color is a duller shade of green with a white chest and red throat.
  7. Kevin I believe as a SSV Patron the only ads you see are the three ads on the banner. I don't think they can be turned off as they help pay the bills here. I pretty much ignore them.
  8. Some months back I sent an email to SEYCO with a question on their new saw. No I am not in the market at this time. Anyway I received this notice. Just wanted to pass along the info to my SSV friends. "From: Ray Seymore <[email protected]> To: Ray Seymore <[email protected]> Sent: Fri, Apr 21, 2017 8:01 pm Subject: Seyco ST-21 Reservations Thank you for asking about Seyco's new ST-21 Positive Swing Tilt Head Scroll Saw. 9. I do not use Crown tooth blades. Tried them and did not like them as much as reverse tooth blades. Anyway I agree with other that you doing need booth painters tape and clear packing tape. When I do intarsia I put the clear packing tape directly on the and then glue the pattern to the tape. This allows me to see the wood so I orient the pattern piece better to the grain and other features in the wood.
  10. If we all thought and acted alike this world would be a pretty sad place. We all have something to offer. When people ask for opinions and suggestions we are doing them an injustice not to tell them what we think. Now something we may not phrase our responses as gently as we could but I have not seen a lot of that on this forum. For the record I looked at some of your recent posts and took no issues.
  11. Hawkeye and others try this. While logged into the site on the Town Square page I rebookmarked the page. Then I deleted my old bookmark. The new bookmark page seems to bring me back logged in every time.
  12. Contact Bushton Manufacturing. They make the new Hawks and are highly knowledgeable on the old models. They are also the best source for parts should it came to that.
  13. I really like the colored flowers. Not so much the colored humming bird. JMTC
  14. I know an 8' x 8' (64 sq ft) would not work for me. I have a 22' x 32' (704 sq ft) and it is not enough room. Figure your scroll saw needs a bare minimum 2' in width and 2' in depth. Add another 2' depth for you to stand/sit and you have used up 8 sq ft. Add a bench/table that is say 3' x 1.5' plus a place for you to stand at the table (2') and there goes another 10.5 sq ft. I think you get the picture. 64 sq ft might work for just storage but won't leave you working space. Since you can't fight city hall or the HOA it is best to put everything on wheels and wheel them out when you want to work.
  15. Way to many. Besides 9-10 scroll saw projects I am fixing a table for church, fixing a bench for the dock and building a corner shelf for the boss. Who knows what will get added to the list today.
  16. I feel your pain. Knock on wood my only serious woodworking injury was with a sheet rock knife. Got my index finger. Like you I wore a three stitch badge of dishonor and my project was put on hold for a week.
  17. Ike any show I am happy with is a good show. While making money is great I enjoy talking to people. CONGRATS on your show.
  18. The enemies of finish are air, sunlight, and temperature. I store my finish in the original container out of direct sunlight and my shop never goes below 50 degrees in the winter. If I mix finish say Poly and MS or BLO and MS I will put them in a glass jar but I keep that jar out of direct sunlight and I only mix what I will use in a week or so. I never use glass container for long term storage. While I have a can of BLO that I opened 5 or more years ago that is still good I seldom have Danish oil more then a year. I like Danish oil and use a lot of it. I probably go through a quart can and a half a year.
  19. On the end of the motor there is a slot that looks like a screw. Unplug the motor. Turn the screw a 1/4 turn. Plug it in and try again. Dewalt saws have a history of switch issues. When you get it working get a foot switch.
  20. I cut puzzles out of Christmas cards that I mount on 1/4" Baltic Birch Plywood. The real stuff and not that junk you get from Lowes or Home Depot. I use Flying Dutchman Puzzle Blades. I do not us a pattern. I just follow lines and shapes in the picture. It really is much easier then it sounds. There is an excellent puzzle tutorial on the Fox Chapel SSW&C forum.
  21. Be prepared for Lazy Days. I lived in Cary 17 years and for some strange reason that Saturday was the hottest day of the year for probably 14 or those 17 years. I am talking 105-110 or higher heat index days. For those who never heard about a heat index day, basically it means between the sun, wind (or lack of), the heat and humidity it fells like 105 - 110.
  22. I make lots of paper to wood permanent attachments with my card puzzles. 3M Super 77 is all I use now. Tried others but not happy with the results. For a true permanent attachment step one is to take a dry clean paper towel and wipe any dust, pollen or other residue off the wood and paper. Step two is to apply a light but even coat of spray to both the wood and the paper. Step three is to press together immediately. Step four is to put a flat piece of wood or other hard material over the entire area and put a weight on it for about 30 minutes. For a weight I normally use a full quart can of paint.
  23. Thanks Randy. To your comments about a gap between 16 and 30, are those the only size they come. Nothing in the 20-24 inches range?
  24. I do not work for anyone unless you count the wife. John T. I don't know if magazine sales / readership would be a valid stat to gauge the health of our past time. Most printed magazines and the like have all been impacted by the internet and forums such as this one. Not saying it is good or bad. It is just the way of the 21st century. I think SSWC and the now defunct CWWC where a big reason for the growth of our past time in the 1990's and early 2000's. Time will tell where things are 10 years from now.
  25. You CAN NOT use a variable speed foot control on a scrollsaw unless it was designed specifically for your saw and model. Else you will burn out your motor in very short order. You can only use on of the on/off types.
