  1. Mean looking! Just one hole at a time right.
  2. All the very nice comments that have been posted really made me feel good and made my hat size bigger! Thanks
  3. I seen the plans (16 pages worth) on Woodsmithplans.com. There is a lot of scrolling an sanding. Made from black walnut an white maple. The plans didn’t show the hand rails, front steps or the ballast in the track. I felt it was needed. I don’t have a way to do turning. So I just started sanding the main round engine using belt sander and anything else I could come up with. This is a gift to my youngest son so I wanted it to be totally made by me. It is hard to see in pictures but the sign on stand reads “New York Central Railroad Twentieth Century Limited Super Hudson Streamlined J3a Built 10 Between 1937-1938”. This has to be the most rewarding project that I have made in the 10+ years of woodworking! To see the emotion from my son when I showed it to him is what I will never forget. I have included a picture of the real engine and you notice I used the same engine number it had. Sorry for the long post but if you want anymore information just ask. Have probably over 40 hours in it. The stand is 30” long. Thanks for looking!
  4. I was asked to make this for a Halloween wedding. Each guest is to sign a bat. It has 250 bats and is 24 x 48”. Stained black on tongue & grove pine. Thanks to Don from here for finding the font!
  5. Very unique! I like making bowls but you had better like sanding if going to make one.
  6. I brought up the site on the computer an the video worked for me. But it would't open on my IPhone for some reason. But anyway very nice area an hope people come back soon all over the country.
  7. Don’t know why won’t work for me. I can open other videos on other sites. O well
  8. Is it just me, I can’t get the video after I click on it?
  9. What kind of blade?
  10. If you are getting a hockey stick end it is because the blade clamp set screw needs to be turned in a little. The only time top feeding is a problem is if using spiral blades. Due to all the teeth facing down. Make hole a bit bigger.
  11. Top feed the blade through the hole! Very easy to see hole while looking down at it.
  12. I cut a set of chess pieces out of walnut without problem. I used pegas #5 MG. Make sure the blade is 90 degrees to the table and go slow.
  13. Thanks for all the kind comments. I don’t know who them young people are in picture lol
  14. Today, May 12, is our 25th anniversary. Made this for us using lace wood with painted backer. It is a Sue May pattern for the outer ring I found in the pattern vault here a pattern that Grampa made for the hands. Then made a copy of a wedding picture.
  15. Jim I see there are different prices for the GO555. Which model do you have?
  16. Never heard of Black Limba. But had a shop teacher tell me he “could build a world around what I don’t know an put what I do know in a thimble”. Nice bowl and wood!
  17. I used FD for years then switched to pegas. I had the opposite experience of you. The FD blades I had to cut feeding into the blade at an angle due to the way they are made. After awhile didn’t have to think about it. But the Pegas blades the first time using took some getting use to due to them cutting straight, for me.
  18. Last fall I moved my shop from the garage to the barn. The shop vac that I use for Scrollsaw an sanders started to lose suction. Checked the dust deputy bucket and it was almost empty. Checked the vac and it was completely plugged up. Couldn’t figure out why the dust deputy quit working. Been working great in old shop! After much head scratching I figured out I had put the suction hose on the wrong port!!
  19. I asked the manager if they had simple green because that is what I used before. I told him for a $1.00 worth trying lol.
  20. Got a gallon of degreaser to clean bandsaw blade. Cost $1.00 for a gallon at dollar store. After 3 hours of soaking you see the stuff that came off an how clean the blade is. Didn’t even have to wipe it off! Surprised me!!
  21. Always wounded why DeWalt never improved their saws after seeing how easy EX does it.
  22. Like the first one, my two cents worth
  23. $3 blade must be a good one lol
