  1. I changed the size, so I could use a piece of 6" wood (surfaced down to 5 1/2").
  2. Steel brush?? not sure what you mean. Don't be deceived, there are plenty of things that are wrong to my eyes. Two things that have helped me, using thicker wood (If I tried to cut this in 1/4" stock, it would be a disaster) and a good magnifier light. A lot of things get hidden in the pictures, even though I don't to any retouching of them. Anyway, thanks for the kind words.
  3. Another Sheila Landry design. 5/8" Red Oak, 8" x 14."
  4. Cut from 5/8" Red Oak using Pegas #3 and #5MGT blades. Size is 8" x 14" design by Sheila Landry (I love her patterns). This one was way more challenging then I expected it to be. I planned on selling it, but the wife already grabbed it LOL.
  5. Thanks everyone. Exactly what I needed! Happy 4th!
  6. Anyone have a drill size chart for the smallest usable bit for SS blades. Preferably Pegas MGT blades. Jim
  7. Used Pegas MGT #3 and #5.
  8. Cut from 1/2" Red Oak
  9. If you ever talk to Bushton, (Hawk mfg.) they had a bad experience with Fasco motors and controllers on Hawk saws. I looked at a used Hawk a while back and walked away because it had a Fasco motor and what they said. But for the right price, anything is a good buy.
  10. Check out YouTube videos by Advanced Machinery for the most accurate info on Hegners. They helped me a lot.
  11. Thanks for the reminder of how old I am Kev. I drove past the MM factory in the Twin Cities, and remember one of our neighbors growing up on the farm had an MM tractor. Yup, I'm old. LOL
  12. Your are correct, practice does make it easier. Also, I find cutting thicker wood helps at least it does for me.
  13. Sheila Landry pattern, cut in 5/8" Red Oak.
  14. Very nice work. I spent a lot of hours driving a Case tractor when I was a kid. A lot of long days in our farms fields - seems like a long time ago.
  15. I use only Pegas MGT blades from you.
  16. Sheila Landry pattern, cut in 5/8" Red Oak.
  17. As one of my friends says "I am upright and taking nourishment" LOL.
  18. I was thinking it was slower here too. I haven't been posting much because I am not doing anything new. A lot of repeats this year because I have been busy in the shop, but I figured you all don't want to see the 10th addition of something I have posted before. Maybe I am wrong?
  19. I don't know how Denny does it. I too am always amazed at how fast things arrive. Denny must know somebody at the post office?
  20. I did. Thank You.
  21. More amazing service from Denny. I ordered more blades late last Friday - figured they would ship Monday and I would get them by this Thursday. Denny shipped them Saturday morning and they we in my mail delivery today (Monday). That's central Tennessee the eastern Wisconsin in two days. Thanks Denny!!! https://www.artcraftersonline.com
  22. Getting the "gearbox" out looked impossible from the exploded view in the manual. I kept looking for a way to take the side frame off - nope, not going to happen. The original owner was a middle-school where the kids just made curved pieces for the other projects. Always with a 7 or 9 blade and never releasing the tension lever except to change a broken blade. I thought it would be OK, but started hearing more noise and then I noticed a lot of metal dust back by the gearbox. All should be good now. Between what I paid for the saw, adding Pegas blade chucks, and now this, I think the saw will out last me (I will turn 75 this spring).
  23. Kev, You are 100% correct, the instructions are crap. I just finished the rebuild of my old EX-16. I ordered the whole assembly from Seyco. I did a lot of hear scratching at some parts of the process - like what are they talking about?? LOL But it was still easier than the rebuild of my Dewalt.
  24. I could do that. My Excalibur sits on the one I made and I am very happy with it. Call me cheap and lazy, but the Hegner already has a good stand, and I thought shortening it would be perfect for it as my second saw. And I already have enough chairs that I am happy with, too. I was hoping someone here, had a good reason to cut the legs down or tell me that's a bad idea..........
