  1. I like to sit while I scroll. My Hegner is on a tall factory stand and that needs a "Draftsman" type stool to sit at. I looked at getting the Hegner short stand from Advanced but thought the cost was too much (235.00 plus shipping)- more than I paid for the saw. I am thinking about just cutting the tall stand down to chair height. Any pros and cons from the experts?
  2. Pattern by Brenda's Wood Creations purchased through the Wooden Teddy Bear. 3/4" oak.
  3. Shout out to the Wooden Teddy Bear. Great service and fast order completion and shipping. I am always pleasantly surprised by them!
  4. You want to get in touch with Ray at Seyco. He has all the knowledge you need as well as parts for Excalibur saws. Its the ONLY resource I use for my EX-16. https://www.seyco.com/
  5. They are a great source for quality wood. I always thought they were mail order only. I didn't know they were setup for in-person orders and visits.
  6. If you like the chair you have, you can buy the pneumatic and fix it cheaper than a new one. It seems to me a long time ago I saw a YouTube vid on a cheap fix with a piece of PVC pipe.
  7. Welcome to the Village. I am in SE Wisconsin too - Jackson.
  8. Well done!! Very nice work!
  9. Totally agree! Its the ONLY place for me!
  10. This one helped me the most when I started out scrolling: https://www.foxchapelpublishing.com/scroll-saw-workbook-3rd-edition.html
  11. I joined.
  12. I mostly use it for Intarsia for the color. Its not real friendly for fretwork - leaves a lot of fuzzies even with a reverse tooth blade.
  13. I cut this from 1/2 thick Aspen and attached it to a 1/2 thick back board that is painted black. This is the Aspens natural color, it only has a clear protective coat on it. The entire project is about 10" high and 8" wide,
  14. Buy it and then re-sell it? It got to be worth more than $40!
  15. Les will be missed by all of us. He will be remembered for the great guy that he was, but I believe that Les would want to be remembered for his tag line at SSV: Rockytime aka Les For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16 Rest in peace my friend, we will meet again on the other side of the river.
  16. One of Steve Good's all time best patterns IMO. Great job executing, looks great!
  17. To me this is one of Steve's best pattern ever. Everyone seems to like it. I cut if out of 3/4" Red Oak.
  18. I think I have seen a #50 blade. It only has two teeth (not per inch, but for the whole blade). It is really noisy when you are cutting. The Hegner I have has some issues that I never could resolve. The only blades I could use without breaking were #3 and larger and then only Pegas blades. Anything smaller than a #3 would break in 5 minutes or less. I am sure it was just my saw - or me, but be sure to try out your smallest blades and run them for a while if you go look at it. Also, notice the table size - it may not matter, or you will hate it.
  19. Made this for a friends wedding. Interesting pattern. The flowers, names, and date are cut into the main piece which is Aspen. The dark frame and words are cut from walnut and glued to the Aspen. And a 1/4" BB backer painted black under the Aspen. Turned out to be tougher than I thought it would be.
  20. I have been asked by my only granddaughter (another words it's a must do ) to make a plane "globe" for her. No oceans or mountains, etc. Why she wants it? - don't ask. About 16" in diameter. I don't have a large lathe or know anyone who does, so I need to find a way to do it with my scroll saw and sanders. I envision making it with layers of 3/4" clear pine which I calculate to be about 20 layers. What I need help with is determining the angles to cut each layer. I know it will not be perfect, but my drum sanders should be able to fix that. Any thoughts?? Thanks in advance. Jim
  21. Nice job and a great gift. I spent a lot of hours on an old Ford tractor when I was a kid.
  22. 3/4 Red Oak from the big box store.
  23. Red Oak cut on the Hegner with #5 Pegas MGT blades.
  24. Working on a bunch of new designs by Keith. This are about 9" wide and 6" high. Made from Red Oak, cut with #5 Pegas MGT blades. .
