  1. It actually takes more skill and more time to do nice work with poorer tools!! Some of us have had the economic situation of buy the best you can afford an it was a very low budget! Yet soem of these people still do great work! I am admiring the people that can do great work with only so-so tools! The H-F tools are some very good and some junk! I haave a very cheap Skill 3/8 hand drill that I have had almost 10 years and just beat on! It still does well; if it quits tomorrow, I cannot complain! It was the best I cold afford at the time! When it does quit I will get a Milwaukee or a Bosch to replace it, could not afford either when I needed a new drill and bought it! I wore out a tin platform Dremel 16" saw that I had bought used and made many nice things with it too. I then had a better Dremel that ws sold due to a 1500 mile move. Then I bought a DeWalt 788 on sale at Rockler for $400 which was the top end of my budget. It is a good saw and I have used it for 5 years now on some very tough cutting hickory flooring cuts like steel! I did want to make sure what I wrote was understood! Yes, better tools make the jobs easier, a talented & dedicated person with poorer tools can do as good and many times better job than a "hurry through" with better tools!
  2. Extremely well done on all aspects-- from design, to cutting, to assembly, to the fine finish also! Waiting for the preacher and the congregation?
  3. Some of us use the old alibi (All I could afford at the time!) and they do as nice of work as anyone else! I am not a fan of "tool snobs" or any other snobs! If you like your saw and it works well for you: no ONE else's damned business! Now I probably enraged someone!TDB! (Too Damned Bad!)
  4. Exceptional work! Damned glad I will not have to dust it though!
  5. Seaing them!
  6. NICE!
  7. Peep Peep!

  9. This seems like a very strange situation. If this is a pin end blade-- are you going far enough down on the bottom hook?? Some saws bottom hook is difficult to hook! Let us know what it was please; just to satisfy curiosity!
  10. NICE! Making toys is a joy of it's own. I like that you made instead of buying the wheels too!

    Starting out

I do not use adhesives on patterns. I use clear packing tape on the area of the wood that are going to get cut lines. Then I use a permanent marker on the tape to put the pattern to the wood. (I make a lot of templates up for anything I am going to do a repeat of.) I use the markers around the templates on to the tape. The tape peels off easily and a slight miss of a line does not even show! Dollar Tree has a good tape for this at $1 each. Look the tape over though; and if bubbled of the roll or not smooth --take one that is. Those have had too much light exposure and will break instead of unrolling right. You can also just staple a pattern in the waste area without any damage to the project. the clear tape also acts a a blade lubricant. Do not buy the blades at the local store! Buy them on-line from a reliable source. Here is the web site of my favorite supplier. http://www.pozsgaidesigns.com/contact.htm He is a good, fair dealing man and I actually know him.
