#1. GREAT CUTTING! #2. I like cedar; but do not use it for any project that will tend to have small structure areas. #3. That will be a fragile piece unless made from a super good plywood.
  3. Treed me! Hoot! Hoot! Neat.
  4. Penquin & everyone; I know Frank! He lives about 3 miles from me! All I can say about him is good things! Knows scrollsaws and treats people RIGHT!
  5. A.K. is still being A.K. --!!!! But now we will know him as the Orlando Bird MAN--Too.
  6. The scrollers are 100% accurate in their praise!
  7. Hey Dick, us old dogs can LEARN new tricks too! Nice work!
  8. Kevin just doing the A. K. THING! To us arthritics --heat beats holy hell out of mid -30's +++100+% humidity! Temps in the 10's 1nd 20's MINUS do not feel any colder than the high humidity-- 30's cold; if they are low humidity. Yes, I have lived/worked in both!
  9. Fantastic work! Way past my skills and doubly so for my patience levels!
  10. A lot of work and well done!
  11. All of the ABOVE!

    Giddy-UP! NEAT work! Imaginative too.
  13. You are going to get way too many "OH HONEY can you?"-s on that one! SUPER NICE!
  14. Just another example of A.K. being A.K. GET em done and put the $$$$$$$$$$ in the bank!
  15. Great First show! I do not seem to do well at shows. I do seem to do fair at Offer-Up, Craig'slist and even just a garage-sale format when there are others in the neighborhood! Yo might be able to cut 2 at once on the DW788. Double an easy one for the first attempt. My DW handled double on 3/4 pine easily.
  16. T(S)WEET T(S)WEET T(S)WEET!!! Are you sure you do not cut in your sleep! Hope the $$$$$$$$$ are good for those!
  17. For "newbie" you are doing extremely well! For ANYONE some of that is very fine work! Some unknown reason the mink is my favorite.
  18. I have one other thing to add. Most of us use some sort of blade lube, make sure you do! They cut better and LAST a LOT Longer. I use old white candles o; and sometimes put my pattern on clear packing tape; markers write well on it, but can rub off with your fingers. Put a second layer over the critical lines and it works very well. Peels right off and if line was missed by fractions only YOU will ever know! The candle idea was with that saw's directions in 1953 and I have used it ever since

As an update-- Sold this AM EVEN after I admitted to not liking it
  20. I have to try-- mini-bird house! The only mini-bids we have here are Humming birds and they like a shelf or a hanging plant for home! Small is harder than real on bird habitat!

Made totally from dumpster wood. Mostly cedar a tiny bit of un-known species. .Used --scrollsaw, chop saw --sanders, drill press, hand drill and even a 70+year old draw-knife. Mostly just guess-ta-measured! The wheel gets cut on a scrollsaw (I do not own a bandsaw) and then trued up on the vertical belt-sander. Just put up to prove I am still alive! I do not like the box style; looked better in my head before making it. Next salvage one will be back to more rounded style box.
  22. I have used the clamp a straight edge to it many times and got decent--NOT PERFECT results. Use some other lumber under --(away from cut lines)-- it and that supports it for your cuts.
  23. Fine craftsmanship!
  24. Great Job Dick! Way past my patience levels and most likely skill level too!
