  1. Looks good Dick!
  2. Those are great Steve! Next time I'm in the neighborhood, I'll come by and play!
  3. 220 is as high as I go. Anything above that is just polishing the wood, which is ok if that is what you are going for. Personally, I don't like a shiny finish on my scroll saw projects. I go for a medium luster. So, 220 is as far as I go. It is true that you will get lest penetration of oil the higher grit you go.
  4. Nice work Bobby!
  5. Those are very cool Dan!
  6. Nice work on both Steve!
  7. Hey Sam, two possible items. One, you are over tightening the thumb screw. Try using a little less pressure when tightening it. Two, the backup screw has backed into the blade clamp. Make sure it protrudes into the blade opening the same distance as the bottom blade clamp. Bottom feeder, huh?
  8. Yes, even BB. Since it is already sanded, I only have to touch up by hand the fuzzies with the same grit sand paper.
  9. Sam, my random orbital sander touches every project I do. The trick is to sand your blank to finish grit before you apply your pattern and cut. Then when done cutting, I touch up with a folded piece of the same grit I sanded to, usually 220 grit. I rarely use the ROS on delicate fret work. I can't speak for either of the models you are looking at as I have not used them. I own two Porter Cable 333's. One is hooked up to my Dust Deputy and Shop Vac. The other I have had as a spare for when my primary dies as they are not made anymore. It's been waiting for at least 10 years!
  10. Basiclly John, they sell Woodworking videos and books. Like I said above, they sent me a woodworking DVD to try. If I didn't like it, send it back. Well I didn't send it back or pay for it since I didn't order it!
  11. Yes, a few years back they sent me a DVD to try for free, send it back if you don't want it the letter said. I did not order it so I felt I shouldn't have to do anything. After some nasty letters from them, I wrote back that since I did not order it, I should not be responsible to do anything. I never heard from them again. Still have the DVD, never watched it.
  12. The only question I have Dave, is when you plane your boards, do you plane equal amount on both sides or just one side till you reach your thickness?
  13. Nice work Doc!
  14. When you contact them, you should advise them to check out this thread.
  15. I am not a member of SAW Les as I have not had the need to. I am a member of two scroll saw forums, formerly three. I have access to all the patterns I need. If I need help with anything scroll saw related, I come here or the other forum. I suspect most scrollers feel as I do. I know Rolf is a member. Hopefully he will chime in.
  16. Nice work Jerry!
  17. You've done it again Dave! Great pattern, great plaque, great job all around!
  18. Yup, a star in the making!

    Looks good Dan!
  20. That's really nice Roly! I shave in the shower. I don't think it would work for me.
  21. That is a good idea Don! You can take it a step further by mounting the dowels to a board so they don't get lost. I made this one about fifteen years ago. You can tell its old, it's for five hole disks which are hard to find anymore.
  22. Nice work Bobby, I like all three!
  23. Very cool Todd, I like those!
  24. I think the color variations are fine Brian. Commercially available Walnut is steamed to even out the color. Naturally, air dried Walnut is not. Something to know before you buy air dried Walnut.
  25. It came out nice Bobby!
