Yes, that's a sure sign of laser cutting. Unfortunately, if your intentionally burn you edges, people will assume it was laser cut.

Hi Nancy, welcome to the Village. I do not use painters tape because it becomes tedious removing the small bits of tape between fret holes. Instead, I glue the pattern to the wood, then apply a single layer of clear packing tape. The tape lubricates the blade to help eliminate burning and the blade last longer. It's simple to remove the pattern and tape by heating the pattern with a heat gun or hair dryer, or spritzing some odorless mineral spirits onto the pattern, let it sit for a few seconds, and the patter and tape will lift right off. So, come on in and join the final!

Hey Dave, here's a tip for you. if you have dust nibs in the first coat of lacquer, sand with a folded piece of brown paper bag. It acts like 1200 grit sandpaper. I also use it to level off the last coat of lacquer. It doesn't leak any sanding dust and it's free!

I've been using Flying Dutchman Ultra Reverse blades in sizes 1-7 for a long time now. I've been using Olson 2/0R blades because up until now FD UR didn't come in a 2/0. I just ordered more FD UR blades and noticed they now have UR in 2/0. Has anybody used the UR 2/0 blades yet? I had tried the FD SR 2/0 blades and could not control them. I ended up giving them away, so before I order some, I'd like to know if they do ok.

They look great Danny! If I were selling those, I would have a price of $3 each or 2 for $5. It makes it look like the customer is getting a bargain!

Or better yet, cut it free hand! I've done several jigsaw puzzles, none with a pattern. Before I cut the first one, I took a sheet of scrap 1/4" ply and did some practice cuts. After a few minutes, I was ready to cut the puzzle. My icon is the first jigsaw puzzle I did!

In addition to sacrificing, a thicker stack will give you better control of the work and less chance of the blade digging into the thin board. I never cut anything thinner than 1/4" without stacking.
