Great looking sign! Aspen is a very soft and grainy wood that leaves a lot of fuzzies. You might go with Maple next time.

I have two different sizes of the cutting jigs. One is just right for the mini Birdhouses and one size for the birds. As you can see by using the jig, your fingers stay away from the thumb screw.

dw788 top arm won't always go up high enough?

I've had three DW 788's including a type I and they have all done that. -
Hey Edward, are you using a clamping/ cutting jig? By using a cutting jig, your hand stays away from the blade clamp. I will post a picture of mine if you want.

Hey Edward, the mini birdhouses require a 1-1/4" blank. I cut these on my DeWalt all the time. In fact, I just cut abou t 70 of them. Have you made any adjustments to your saw to stop a banging noise? This adjustment brings the top blade clamp closer to the table.

Hello and requesting help with "flexing" blade issue

You need high tension on the blade. You want to hear a high "plng" when you pluck the blade. You need to slow down your feed rate. Let the blade do the cutting, and you need to learn to not apply lateral pressure to the blade when cutting curves. The Olsen PGT blades are ok for cutting gentle curves, but not for tight curves, especially in hardwoods. I use Flying Dutchman Ultra Reverse Blades for hardwoods. For 3/4" puzzles in hardwoods, I would use a #5. Welcome to the Village and visit often! P.S. Great job on your puzzles! -

Yes, those are the products that I use for the 50/50 mix. I have not added any poly to to my mix, I prefer a spray on Laqcuer.The MinWax wipe on poly is basiclly a poly/mineral spirits mix already, so I wouldn't use it in a mix.

A random orbital sander. Mine gets used on all my scroll saw projects except the mini birdhouse.
