  5. Nice!
  6. My first saw had a digital speed indicator, but blade changes were the absolute worst. When I replaced it with a DeWalt, I missed the digital indicator because I was used to adjusting the speed for cutting by the readout. So I had those speeds tapped to my saw. Now, I don't even look at the speed control (can't see it anymore anyways), I adjust it by feel and sound.
  7. Very nice work Ward! As far a sideways pics, are these taken with your phone or tablet? If so, did you take the pics in landscape mode, that is holding the phone or tablet sideways?
  8. Hey Jeff, I am a scroll saw instructor at Woodcraft in Ventura, Ca. I start my beginners students off cutting 3/4" pine with an Olson #5 skip tooth blade. A skip tooth blade is just what it sounds like, a tooth, a space, a tooth and so on. This is an overall good blade to start with. The #5 is a good size for 3/4" softwoods and 1/2" hardwood. As you progress, these may change for you, but this is a good starting point. Now, when to change blades? First of all, blades are cheap. I by them by the gross. So changing blades is constant. When the blade is no longer cutting the way I want it too, it's time to change it! That means that if it lasts an hour, or last one minute, change it. Tonight, I was cutting ornaments and a blade I was using lasted an hour, but typically, 15 to 30 is normal for me. If it is no longer cutting the way you want it too, change it.

    Welcome

Great choice of woods, very nice work Terrylee!
  11. Thank you all! It means a lot. I work full time and do most of the shopping and cooking so I don't have much time to work in the shop. In fact I just came in from the shop as I have another show on the 7th & 8th of November. I plan on working in the shop every night after dinner for the next two weeks. Then two weeks after that I have a scroll saw class at Woodcraft. I have to prep wood, patterns and supplies for the class. After that I'll have time to clean the shop. I'm looking forward to that as my shop is such a disaster. Its dangerous to go in there!
  12. Great job John!

  16. That's a great project! Great pattern and cutting!
  17. Don't spend money on the DeWalt light, it's crapp!
  18. To keep the piece stable. If you remove the fallout, your finished piece will move around and come out irregular. I use a home made clamp ficture to hold everything in place while cutting. Steve Good has one in his pattern catalog, but mind is a lot simpler. I actually have two different sizes.
  19. That's a great question, I honestly don't know! Just a guess....250. When I choose a project to cut, I check to see what wood I have on hand. That will determine how many copies I make. I plan on at least two, but if I have the wood, I'll cut up to four of each project.
  20. Excellent work Edward!
  21. Nice!
  22. It's hard to say as each show is different. The mini bird houses always sell as well as Christmas ornaments, although I didn't have any on display at this show. Sentimental plaques always sell.I might have something that I have been carrying around for two years that I thought would never sell, then all of a sudden it sells.
  23. Great idea Dan. I might have to try it too!
  24. Nice work Art. I like it!
  25. Nice work Marge!
