Yes, Paul is correct. If a link is loose, it is because it is cracked. It usually happens to the first one attached to the saw. Because it is cracked, it will easily pull off of the saw. Either heat it with a heat gun or hair dryer, or hot water. Pull off the cracked link with needle nose pliers. Then reheat the next good link, then press it back into place.

Very nice work Todd! It might be easier to use spiral blades but I wouldn’t recommend them for this type of project. First, they leave a rougher cut on your work, and they leave a wider kerf, not good for puzzles.

Marg, I have no idea where the pattern came from. It’s been in my pattern file for years. It has no name on it. I cut one about 6 or 8 years ago. When I cut a project, I always make an extra copy for future use. I don’t usually record where the pattern came from.

Hey Mathew, it might look good painted, but I am not a painter, nor do I like staining BB. If this were mine, I might try a painted backer. I definitely would soak the the piece in a 50/50 mixture of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. Then when dry, topcoat with Deft semi gloss spray lacquer. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.
