  1. Awesome looking piece. Very impressive.
  2. Well this is my sanctum sanctorum As you can see it's a little wintry these days. This shop was here when we bought the property, but not near where we build our house. It's 24 X 30'. Although it seems big, I oftentimes must convert it to vehicle servicing and repair. My problem is I just can't figure how I want to set things up. They need to be fairly mobile so I can move them out of the way when necessary. Overall, I find it a great place to hang out, although in this weather it does take a while to warm up since there's only wood heat.
  3. Welcome Harold. Nice looking deer. Wish Id's seen something like that during hunting season. Enjoy the forum. Lots to learn.
  4. My accident didn't occur in the shop, but while working outside. I was building a rack to hold our garbage cans. I made the rack out of two by fours and nailed it together using a framing nailer. As I was nailing in a cross piece, the nailer did a "double tap". The first nail went into the board, the second through the ring finger on my left hand. A trip to the emergency room later, no serious damage. Just a tetanus shot and a comment from the doctor about being careful. Soon after I bought a modification to the nailer that prevented such things.
  5. Welcome. Like you I live in an area without many scrollers. That's why finding this forum has been such a godsend. The others on here are truly artists who are happy to share their secrets. Enjoy.
  6. As everyone else has said, welcome. This is a fun place to hang out and connect with people. I'm hoping you'll post some pictures of your work.
  7. What a great use of old propane tanks. Beautiful work.
  8. Awesome looking bowls. Great job!
  9. Sounds like you got the most you could out of a craft show. Mostly connecting with others. Sounds like fun.

Like the pattern like the cutting. Job well done!
  11. Welcome Kevin. This is great place to learn all the secrets of the craft. There are scrollers on this site who can provide top notch advice. Of course it looks like you're pretty well versed in quite a few things.
  12. For the connections I've made and tips I've learned on this forum, ten bucks for a year is one of the best investments I've ever made. Hopefully others will realize that and respond accordingly. Travis and Clayton, thanks guys for all you've done.
  13. Great job!
  14. Nice. I like your choice of wood. Great pattern.
  15. Wow! That is some awesome scrolling. Makes me realize how much I have to learn. Great job.
  16. Here in the great mountain west, our trees are all the wrong type. Like kevin, I tend to scrounge for my stock. The local Habitat for Humanity Re-store is a pretty good source. Also garage sales where people are getting rid of old furniture. I've even used old pallet material. Depending on what was on it, they oftentimes use oak for the boards.
  17. Oops, sorry about the orientation. Not sure what I did.
  18. Christmas came a little early to this chubby elf! What a sweet wife I have.
  19. Nice looking work.
  20. Thanks Clayton, it's a great site.
  21. Beautiful job!
  22. I have a type 1, don't really know what the difference is. I've had mine 3 years and have had no problems. I suppose there are some checks for sloppiness in the various mechanisms and making sure all the parts are there. Sounds like a good price if it's in good condition.
  23. Oh thanks, now I'm hungry. Nice work.
  24. Great looking piece. I have the same problem photographing with my iPhone when I take the picture looking straight down. Somehow the camera gets confused as to what is up and down.
  25. Great looking projects.
