  1. Oftentimes schools will take them to use the pictures for various classes.
  2. Thanks for all the answers. It seems the majority of you folks wear some sort of filter protection. I guess I'll give it a try, although historically I find the masks annoying at best. I realize that in the long term it's in my best interest, I just don't want to avoid scrolling because the mask is too much of a pain. My wife thinks I should start thinking like an adult, to which I reply, "I know I am but what are you?"
  3. I would like to know folks opinions on dust protection. Do any of you wear a mask when scrolling? I don't, but do seem to have a nose full of sawdust when I'm finished. I have a Jet filter that hangs from the ceiling, and must catch some dust because I have to clean the filter regularly. I still seem to suck in a good bit of dust. Wondering what the rest of you do?
  4. Sander, Welcome to the club. This is a great place to learn and make new friends. Hope to see some of your work. Jim
  5. Welcome to the club. I have learned more from hanging around this place than anyplace else. There are some amazing craftsmen (and women) here.
  6. Very impressive work. He's gonna love it.
  7. Great looking piece, and what a thoughtful thing to do.
  8. Thanks for the post. I'm on my way to the shop for what is probably some much-needed scroll saw maintenance.
  9. Lately when sawing, it seems as though the blade tension isn't as tight as it used to be. Is there some way to adjust the tension? I hate to rip the upper arm apart if I'm just wasting my time. Thanks. Jim
  10. I did 3D ornaments for Christmas last year. I had such a difficult time, I'm afraid to try again. My main problem was the top and bottom coming out differently. I'm sure it was how I was pushing on the blade. I tried skinny blades and blades that looked like they came off a hand saw. It just didn't work out.
  11. Now that would be an awesome present to find under the tree. What are your plans for it?
  12. I do not want a new catalog. I don't need a new catalog.......ok, I ordered one
  13. That's a very impressive job. What angle did you end up using?
  14. Was it ever determined where the pattern of this came from? My wife is a breast cancer survivor (7 years and counting). I would love to be able to cut this for her.
  15. Wow! That's an impressive cut. Looks great. Job well done.
  16. Beautiful. Truly an inspired work.
  17. That looks great. Good job!
  18. It's always nice to know about those places you would recommend. Kind of like our own Angie's List....without Angie.
  19. Very nice cutting. Job well done.
  20. Those are awesome. You got those done in a day? I'm very impressed.
  21. That's a very nice pattern. Gonna look great on your tree.
  22. I'm not really sure. The only one I tried, was 1/2" stock at 6 degrees. The inset ended up about 1/8" below the rest of the piece. Next time I'll try something closer to 10.
  23. Great looking angels. I can see cutting these for my grandkids to paint.
  24. Very nice. I too like the HD sign.
  25. I am always amazed when someone says they cut a pattern using spiral blades. I just can't seem to get the hang of them. Great looking picture.
