  1. I like the design. I've never tried the technique, but it looks good.
  2. No question of who goes where.
  3. Very cozy in a mancave sort of way.
  4. Those are some great patterns. I'm hoping I'll be at a point in my abilities to be able to contribute next year. I chose local charities this year. One is volunteering at a local free thanksgiving dinner put on by a local market. The other is a local veterans pantry which provides food and necessities for area veterans in need. Great job everyone who donated.
  5. That's a great piece of work. Very useful and good looking.
  6. Does anyone here use Gimp with an apple? I'm a little confused on the download process and what it should look like.
  7. Great work. I too am interested in your painting techniques and materials.
  8. Truly works of art. Great looking.
  9. Hmm...Hard for me to say. I've never tried the Excalibur, but everything I hear about it is that it's an excellent saw. I use a DeWalt and am very satisfied. I guess one difference is that the DeWalt is a 20 inch depth as opposed to the 16 inch for the ex-16.
  10. I can see that selling at a craft show, especially using some unique wood. Great job.
  11. Welcome to the hood. It's a great place to learn from some great scrollers.
  12. I would vote for no glass. There's something about scroll saw art that invites touching. Also anything covering the wood is going to mute it to a certain degree.
  13. Nice work, and I agree the sides are amazing. What's the secret?
  14. I suppose there are conditions where I could be persuaded to ice fish. I know my boys in Minneapolis rented an icehouse in northern Minnesota for a weekend. Came with beds cooking facilities and a tv. That sounds survivable.
  15. Amazing examples.
  16. I' don't know, it looks as though you might fit a saw in there. You know for the days when the fish aren't biting so well.
  17. I use Inkscape to size the pattern. I save it as a PDF and print it from Adobe. So far so good.
  18. How handy, and a great way to use up leftover pieces of stock.
  19. Looks like a fun pattern. Great job..
  20. Truly an inspiration for the rest of us. Job well done!
  21. I have always wanted to attempt an intarsia piece. It's always made me a little nervous. Not much faith in my artistic abilities. After reading this thread, my confidence is not increased. Gonna have to get my courage up one of these days. Marmoh, that's a great looking piece.
  22. Absolutely! Give into your dark side and get that bad boy out of the box. Kiss your wife and tell her you'll see her in a day or so. Happy scrolling!
  23. I attend a few craft shows locally each year. I enjoy looking, but rarely buy. There are usually a few booths selling scroll saw items. The work is awfully good, but there never seems to much being sold. My wife and I usually make a trip or two across the country to visit kids and grand kids. I've often wondered if it would be worth it to work a couple of shows en route. Although we probably wouldn't make any money, it might be a good tax write-off for the trip. What do you think?
  24. Hopefully you're going to keep us updated with pictures as you proceed.
