  1. Dick, I didn't use a record album. This is a combination of a few different pictures.
  2. Pete, your reply is the one most applicable to my situation. I don't have a basement or a detached room or even a room that I can close off from the rest of the house. Do you use your scroll saw in the house, where it is at least somewhat open to the rest of the house?
  3. Jerry, I haven't lived there yet. Just vacationed there many, many times. We hope to move to Upcountry Maui someday.
  4. Does anyone here do their scroll sawing indoors...I mean inside the house where you live...? If so, how do you handle dust and is your dust collection effective?
  5. I cut this one yesterday just cuz I miss the islands.
  6. Really nice. Shows the delicate beauty of your subject.
  7. I feel quite vintage myself, Marg.
  8. You are off to a great start! And this is a great place to share and learn. You're gonna love it here. ps...I think you are a brave scroller for cutting in and around that knot.
  9. I cut this piece on my scroll saw last weekend. I got the photo from an old record album. Sometimes it's just fun to go "retro". This is cut in 1/8" thick Baltic Birch plywood.
  10. I like it. Great expressive face which you captured well.
  11. This is such a basic question, that I'm almost embarrassed to ask it. I used to get all the nice plywood for my projects from Lowe's. But Lowe's has decided that wood craft is not worthy of their space. I got some fairly nice plywood from my local Woodcraft shop, but the finish is rough and selection is really limited. I want to start ordering my wood supply online, so I need your best recommendations. Thanks in advance.
  12. Thank you. It means a lot, coming from a master like you.
  13. From one of my favorite movies.
  14. I made the pattern for this from the photo. Doing portraits of famous people is a way of checking my pattern design ability. So many people know what the face should look like that if the pattern I make is not a good likeness, it will be readily apparent to everyone.
  15. Great job! You nailed it. You are certainly a dedicated scroller.
  16. Thanks, Dave. Making the pattern for this one took a lot of "clean-up", because the edges are kinda fuzzy on the original painting.
  17. My latest project
  18. I wasn't lecturing the group. Just expressing my frustration with the archaic views regarding simple, innocent, natural ART. It must be me...I just don't get it.
  19. Again, I say, I will NOT post it. But I thought that we were all adults here, and that this site is about our ART. I really fail to see how Americans, in general, have such a warped perception about the human body. We all have one. How is it pornography for anyone to see the human form presented in its finest? I see the human body as beautiful, natural, even incredible. I cannot understand the objection to something that we all share. I just don't get it. The picture I did is just a simple, beautiful body. There is no "sex". It's just a beautiful subject that I view as art. Simple....? Smack me if I'm wrong.
  20. The consensus here seems to be a resounding NO ! So I will not post it. If anyone really wants to see it, you can message me, and I'll send it to you. It is not anything pornographic. It is art. It is my interpretation of something I find beautiful. It is nothing more "offensive" than you would see on many statues on public display in our museums.
  21. Travis, I sent you a copy of it in a message.
  22. I have been using the Pegas spiral 2/0 almost exclusively for several months. Very happy with the performance.
  23. I have been wanting to cut a "tasteful" nude picture, and I finally found one that is both beautiful and suitable. I think I nailed it with this one. I want to know if there is any objection to me posting it here. I have removed the "offensive" portion of the actual cutting, so that it might be allowed. Please let me know if you want it posted.
  24. I love it. Great job!
  25. Excellent. One of my favorite subjects for cutting. Yours looks great.
