  1. My DeWalt 788's on/off switch quit working. I'm not sure what the cause is nor how to fix it. Anyone else have this problem and a way to fix it?
  2. This one was a labor of love. My wife and I have been vacationing on Maui almost every year for a long time. We both love the feel of the island, and we even hope to move there someday soon. I envision setting up a small shop to sell my art work in the upcountry area. That's why I am concentrating my efforts toward the beauty of Hawaii. I hope I can do it justice.
  3. I just finished cutting this Hawaiian portrait. No stain yet. Photography credit goes to Himani Smeaton. I made the pattern myself from the photo, using GIMP2.
  4. I just finished cutting this one. No finish on it yet. I made the pattern from the photo I found on the web.
  5. I finally finished cutting the Gunfighter picture.
  6. Latest scroll saw project is well underway. I'm really into the "old west" theme. I wanted to get more done today, but had to give up when the thermometer hit 97 degrees. No AC in my workshop/garage, and the fan wasn't getting it done for me. Pattern done by me, from a picture I found online.
  7. I decided to cut as large a space as possible and add a photo. Oval shape was the best fit. After all this, I am now cutting another one for my grandson's other (maternal) grandfather. On his, I will squeeze the lettering to make more room for a larger photo. I'm going to give it to my daughter-in-law so she can give it to her father for Father's Day. Thank you all for your kind and helpful comments. I love this group. You are all so supportive.
  8. I made this project using someone else's pattern (sorry I don't remember where I got it). I just added the lettering. My grandson calls me "Nono", which is an Italian version of Grandfather (it's a long story). I'm thinking of cutting out a space for a photograph just below the lettering, toward the left side. There is room for an oval opening there. What do you all think?
  9. I think you did an awesome job on the cutting, and I love your subject choice. I agree with the group about the frame. It is such a nice project, it deserves a nicer frame....easy fix.
  10. I don't know where I got this pattern, but I love it. Very easy to cut. 5x8" ply. Pegas 2/0 spiral blade.
  11. I just cut this quick portrait of my favorite actor. I made the pattern from a screenshot from the movie, "Hondo". 5x7" baltic birch ply. Pegas 2/0 spiral blade.
  12. Denny, this one wasn't difficult at all.
  13. This one really went pretty quick and not difficult. Tiny 2/0 spiral blade made it a breeze.
  14. Len, I will probably just put it on the pile of my previous projects up in a closet. Wife is talking about framing it with another old west cutting in a double frame.
  15. Finished cutting the "Cowboys Roping Steer" project. The Pegas spiral 2/0 scroll saw blade is da bomb! I believe that the original painting is by Olaf Weigsdorf, for the movie, "El Dorado".
  16. What a great pattern. I love your work.
  17. Thanks for the comments. I used GIMP2 to create the pattern.
  18. The grassy area of the picture has over 450 cuts...what the hell was I thinking?
  19. I made the pattern for this from a painting which I found online. Pattern design took about one hour. Cutting the project took over 25 hours.3/8" Baltic Birch ply. No stain.
  20. Kevin, thanks, it means a lot coming from you.
  21. I use GIMP2 program.
  22. I cut this portrait for my Kona cousins.
  23. Thank you all for the comments. I believe that I posted the pattern here on SSV. If you can't find it, just let me know. I signed it with a woodburner. For all of you whiskey lovers, if you haven't tried Pendleton yet, be sure to make it your next purchase. Wonderful flavor and very smooth.
