Hi Jules, I have no knowledge of the EX-II but myself and CharleyL (another forum member) own Delta Q3's. Personally, I think it is a great saw but it is quite old now and not all parts are available. Mine has been very reliable though in all the years I have owned it. The only problems I have had is snapping the tension lever which is made of brass and the flexible air hose splitting. The Tension lever is available from Ereplacementparts.com for $4.74 USD. For the air hose, I simply use a piece of clear hose with some soft aluminium wire inserted into it so I can position it where I want. It is a "C" arm saw that pivots on a single point. That gives it an arcing cut which is quite aggressive which some people do not like. It may not be the easiest saw to learn on because of that aggressive cut but it is capable of fine work. Most of what you see in my gallery was cut on the Q3. I bought a second hand DeWalt DW788 as a back up saw but the motor died within three months. Recently I found a three year old Hegner Multicut 2SV on E-Bay in the UK that was offered under the Global Shipping programme. I knew it would be risky shipping it halfway round the world but decided I had to take the chance. Despite being well packed, it arrived badly out of alignment and with evidence of a significant impact on the motor. Fortunately I was able to re-align the frame and motor and the saw is now running perfectly. Thanks go to Jim Browning for sharing Hegner's response to his alignment issue which was very helpful. Denny Knappen shared his cutting of a Sheila Landry pattern recently and I thought it would be a good test of the new saw. Here it is, cut from an old drawer side and as yet unfinished. I'm really pleased with the Hegner, it's phenomenally accurate and exudes quality. Rob

As others have said, the Afghan is the only one where you can really see what you are getting and I think your wording would be enough to stop someone being able to cut it. It is better than your first attempt for sure. Keep us posted. Rob

Usually it end up in the scrap bin but recently I cut this Tui bird on a flax flower: I took the "waste" modified it slightly to remove a fragile piece and the place where my entry hole was and surface mounted it on another board. Ended up selling both which was a great result! Rob

For what it's worth, I cut all of the patterns I have brought from you as single pieces. Easier to transport and display and no getting pieces mixed up between puzzles etc. People still seem to like them. Rob

Once the scrolling bug bites, the thought of not being able to scroll if your main saw breaks down is too awful to contemplate. Been there, done that and now have a backup saw. Rob

Good idea Scott. You can also add watermarks to photos in Gimp which would save you having to upload to an online service and back again. I think you can even do batches of images. Google is your friend, All the best, Rob

The good news is I finally got lucky and found a Hegner on E-bay UK which was offered with the Global Shipping Programme. It is a 2014 model Multicut 2S with variable speed and the quick clamp and up front tension lever so I decided I had to have it. The bad news it will take three weeks to get here. However that gives me time to sort out a stand for it. I'm not sure if the footprint is universal on all Hegners but if anyone has the same model I would appreciate measurements of the base plate so I can get started. Thanks in advance, Rob
