  1. Hi Marge, it is pronounced "Two Eee" . They are beautiful birds with a tuft of white feathers at their throat which earned them the name Parson bird in the past. Rob
  2. Do It Merlin. It's easy to cut and people love it. Everyone loves a Tui. Rob
  3. Thanks Dave! The name's "Rob", Roly
  4. Hi Charlie, I remembered you also had a Q3. I love mine, especially the quick clamps but prefer the tension lever on the DW788. Unfortunately my second hand DeWalt died within three months of getting it and I have not had a chance to get it looked at. Either the motor or the circuit board is at fault but not sure which. The DW788 is not sold in NZ and second hand saws are rare here so I am a bit stuck. If my Q3 dies, my only options are the Excalibur clone from Carbatec or to import a Hegner from Australia (the nearest distributor to NZ). The reindeers are fun to cut and people like them. I show then a block of wood with the pattern applied and explain how they are cut. For my next event, I will take a cut one still in the block so I can demonstrate it even better. The first ones took me half an hour but I got that down to 10 minutes or so by the end of the dozen I cut. Happy Christmas! Rob
  5. Thanks Len. Joking aside, I did get the entire cutout out in one piece. I might surface mount it on a backer and try selling it too! Two for the price of one! Rob
  6. Hi Charlie, I cut a dozen of these reindeer on my Delta Q3 and sold all of them at my recent craft fair for $10 each. I did add a red ribbon around their necks though but stupidly didn't take any photographs. Thanks for sharing your knowledge so freely Charlie. Your generosity is appreciated! Rob
  7. This is one I have cut a couple of times before but I love it. Reclaimed rimu from an old drawer box finished with 50/50 BLO and beeswax. The colour and grain of the rimu remind me of a sunset. Rob

    Craft fair

My last indoor craft fair of the year took place today. The day did not start well. I went to open my car door and the handle came off in my hand so I had to climb in from the passenger side. Then I got to the venue and found I had left my display stands at home. However, nonetheless the day was a great success. I sold three items to other vendors before we even opened and ended the day at more than double my previous best. I sold items that had not sold over several previous sales and one gentleman single handedly bought no less than ten items! I have also had some follow ups since I got home which will add to the total. So for those of you who do sell, keep at it, you never know what will sell on the day but in the end things usually do so chin up, enjoy your self and have fun! Now I need to get to work replenishing stock, a problem I have not had in a long time ! Rob
  9. Great work! Love the way the words "Star Wars" form the drawer handle. Rob
  10. Oooh those are tiny!! I sold a dozen today but a bit bigger.... Rob
  11. Perhaps they don't play Wom in America Marge? Rob
  12. That's lovely but shouldn't it be "will be there"? Rob
  13. Great cuttings. Can't decide between the green and black. Both look great. Rob
  14. I re-use what I can but have more scraps than I can find a use for so some of it ends up as kindling or sacrificial pieces for the pillar drill. I always wanted to try sticking random pieces to a backer board and see what comes out of it but have never got around to it. Rob
  15. Love everything about that. The pattern, cutting, wood and even the way you have displayed it. Just great! Rob
  16. Fantastic result Iggy and well deserved. Rob
  17. Beautifully done. Rob
  18. Squeeky clean inlay there Ralph. Well done. I am another who wants to try it sometime... Rob
  19. Wow, that's great! I don't envy you all those stars though Rob
