  1. So glad you like your Hegner Charlie. Sometimes I find it easier to remove the bottom blade holder from the clamp, slide it out of the slot, flip the work over and feed the blade through the next hole from the top (backside of the piece) then flip it back over and re-insert the bottom clamp. So you can top feed, sort of! Rob
  2. Those are great Steve. I wish I could find some wooden wheels over here. I need to dust of the lathe and make some! Rob
  3. I think so Dan. I put another picture on my response to Jim. Rob
  4. Thanks Jim. I think some of the difference is caused by my phone camera and the different colour backgrounds. Here is another picture of the cats where the colour is much closer although it does have some streaking so you are probably right that that one is sapwood. Rob
  5. I bought a few clock mechanisms recently in the hope they might sell well. The first pattern is by Steve Good, the second is from Creative Scrolling but modified to have a base. Both are in Red Beech finished with BLO. About 8 x 6 inches approx. Thanks for looking, Rob
  6. That was worth waiting for! Top job and a very pretty bike too! Thanks for sharing, Rob
  7. Well done Kev! Well deserved! Rob
  8. Picture is not working for me Peter.... Rob
  9. I was amazed to find it as decking timber at Mitre10 (Kiwi Bunnings) a while back. Not sure I would choose it for decking but at $16 a metre, I bought a bit to muck around with. They are now discontinuing it though so I should pick up a bit more before it's all gone. Rob
  10. I like that and could see it selling well. Very nice, thanks for sharing, Rob
  11. I bought the pattern yesterday and had a go at it. Don't look too closely, it's not perfect but it was fun to do and as Alex says, the assembly is not hard if you follow the pattern. Rob
  12. Very nice! You'll be giving Jim Finn a run for his money soon! Rob
  13. Congrats on the new saw. Looks like you are putting it to good use already! Rob
  14. Blimey! I don't have that many kids!! Rob
  15. Thanks Charlie, I love my Hegner! Rob
  16. That's cool! I can see that being very popular. Rob
  17. This Heart of Hearts is cut from the side of an old drawer box and as yet has no finish. It is about 15 x 15cm or 6 x 6 inches. Pattern is from Free Patterns Area Thanks for looking, Rob
  18. Nice cutting Dick and your frame looks fine. @new2woodwrk posted a blog post on how he made his frames a while back which you might find useful. You can find it here: Rob
  19. Thanks Marg. He is not my dog but one I meet most days when walking my labrador, Finnegan. His name is Otto and he is quite a character! Rob
  20. Thanks! No, the frame is Red Beech. There is some beautiful wavy grain in the frame. You did well to spot it in the photograph. Rob
  21. My first piece of 2019 is this cutting from a pattern by @grampa. I took this photo over a year ago and tried to make my own pattern but failed miserably. Eventually I posted a request in the pattern request section and Paul responded almost immediately with this superb pattern. I can't thank him and the other pattern designers enough for the selfless work they do for others, it is much appreciated. Thanks for looking, Rob
  22. At $19.99, I reckon you'll need to supply your own whiskey! Rob
  23. Top job Dick! Rob
  24. Perfect inlay, something I want to try more of this year and the George Harrison portrait is excellent too. Rob
  25. Rob

Sorry to hear such tragic news Peter. Wishing you and your family strength in the coming weeks and months. Your cutting is beautiful. Rob
