  1. Great project and also for a very good cause, specially with COVID, I bet it was well received, congrats to you and your club.
  2. My wife wanted a napkins holder for our backyard table, I asked Sue Mey for a pattern and this is the end result.
  3. My mother-in-law requested a small name plaque for one oh her best friend. I contacted Don in Brooklin who came up with the design. He told me that he is not an artist but I do not see anything wrong with this pattern. Again thanks a lot Don.
  4. There you go back in the saddle again, nice and slow get the prize.
  5. I love bacon
  6. There is always room for improvement, great video and well explained.
  7. Welcome to the village, nothing but great helpful people in this location, ask any questions and someone will come to the rescue, we are a friendly bunch and nobody bites.
  8. It takes longer to prepare the wood to get the proper size then it takes to cut the houses. Excellent choices of wood and the sky is the limit as far as choice of colour combination, and the pile of scrap wood goes down.
  9. Very nice Kenny, grandparents have a duty to spoil the grandkids, you are a master at it.
  10. This is a piece of art, well done. Are you the pattern maker, would be interested to give it a shot, I’m sure that I will get big brownie points from the wife.
  11. You are a master of the crafts, busy, busy just like a bee.
  12. I made an urn for a very good friend of mine and his wife had a friend in to visit and she saw the urn and she asked me to make 2 one for herself and one for her husband. Told her that I don’t like to make the same thing twice, so her main request was she like something simple made of dark wood. I used walnut and mahogany, will deliver tomorrow, hope that she will be please with the end result.
  13. That’s is real nice you did an excellent job.
  14. You are a machine always great stuff, keep safe my friend.
  15. You nailed it Dick, beautiful work.
  16. Nice work, I know what you mean by spending time in the shop away from your wife, I’m lucky because my wife loves to do Diamond Painting so she is in her corner of the basement and I am in my shop at the other end. Happy Wife is an Happy Life LOL
  17. I don’t understand the sanding aspect, I must have done 100 of these mini bird houses and I never sand any of them. Might have used a sanding mop on some, but I used a sealing coat first and then 2 to 4 coats of spray shellac.
  18. Just use 2 pieces of 1/2” and sandwiched a piece of 1/4” in the middle.
  19. Good luck on your first show, glad that the venue is on.
  20. I used all pieces of scrap wood that I have in my scrap box, mix and match wood of different thickness to get the size required for the bird houses. This way you get all kind of different colours, the front might be cherry, the back Walnut that is the beauty of cutting them. Your cost on wood is really nothing better use than the wood stove. Just let your mind explore all the possibilities.
  21. Yes they are
  22. Dick you must be a perfectionist, not too many can be in the club, stop feeling sorry you did a magnificent job, I will be proud to own your bear.
  23. A very good friend and neighbor with Parkinson’s passed away, we used to go for breakfast at different restaurants around town and also go out for dinner with our wife’s. Any way his wife asked me if I could make an urn for his remain, she said it is a sentimental value to her. Well I am not in the urn making business, so after discussing her request, she wanted something simple but with nice wood (I made lots of crafts fir them before). In the shop I go with a heavy heart even though we new that the end was close, this is what I came up with. His name was Gerry Brown.
  24. Will have to talk to Mother Nature to turn the thermostat up quite a bit, flurries here this a.m. and freezing overnight. Hopefully she will check the calendar again and bring the nice weather. I made this elevated garden box with Western Red Cedar(should last for years) size is 36”L x16W x 13” D.
  25. You can do all kind of intarsia with different shades of western cedar, not expensive and easy to cut.
