  1. Looks great! I'm just starting to tackle intarsia myself and this piece is one of the ones I am considering. I really like the dye that you came up with for the cheese.
  2. Very nice? Don, do you have a program that can be used to design such signs?
  3. I'm certain that the recipients will enjoy these cars. Wooden home-made toys are the best! (as my children and grandchildren will attest)
  4. Quite unusual. I particularly like the dominos. Are they real or did you make them too?
  5. Don, that looks better than the prototype that I hurriedly put together using your pattern. I like the colours that you used. I'm going to make a few of these sometimes using other animals such as dogs and cats in place of the rabbit. The other thing I am going to investigate is some safe lighting source such as a few LEDs on a short string powered by a hidden triple A battery. But I don't (yet) know if such things are for sale anywhere.
  6. Thanks John. But, since I am not seeking orders, the only salon that I will make one for is the salon in which my niece Becky works.
  7. Don, who designed this pattern
  8. Thanks. I see three non-religious ones there and, although clever, neither of the two scenic ones appeals to me sufficiently to utilize them and, although I am tempted by the chess set, I recently made another Steve Good designed chess set and board.
  9. WOW! Thanks Dick
  10. I certainly should be able to find something there. When I asked my question about multi-layered patters, I was not thinking of restricting such patterns to the Yuletime season.
  11. They look very good! Like you, I particularly like the colour of the aromatic cedar. I have some scraps somewhere of that stuff and will check to see if any of my scraps have similar colour patterns.
  12. Thanks everyone! I'm now thinking of designing similar clocks for other occupations and hobbies. I welcome suggestions. Cheers, Frank
  13. Looks very good! Does anyone you know where I can find a similar 'multi-layered' pattern that does not have a religious theme?
  14. Wonderful site and patterns! As of Sept 2018, I have never attempted intarsia but I plan to change that soon. What I saw and read inspired me to sign up for one of Judy's Beginner classes in the spring of 2019. May 2019 amendment: Now that I have met Judy, seen her work, and used her patterns, I would give this site even more than 5 stars out of 5 if I could. Her patterns are the best!

    Cherry Tree

Most of the patterns are very fancy fretwork which does not interest me at all, either as a creator or a viewer. I did find a couple of interesting non-fretwork patterns and would have purchased one as a trial but the patterns are not available as a PDF download, they have sent by mail. I don't want to bother with such mail, particularly cross-border mail.
  16. I made this for my niece Becky: The pattern is by Steve Good and I purchased the clockworks from Bear Woods. This is my first clock and I found it VERY EASY to install. The background was cut from 12mm thick Cherry and the scissor-comb overlay was cut from 6mm thick Baltic birch plywood.
  17. Hi Larry.  Please let me know how to obtain the pattern that you used for your Tree Frog intarsia.

  18. Thankyou. Got it.
  19. I scanned Vectorstock but could not find the pattern. Can you give me more exact instructions or a link?
  20. Travis, I have seen the King Canada Excelsior 21 inch saw at a local dealer and, to me, it looks just like the old General International Excalibur 21 inch saw. So, it does exist if you can wait. Having said that, if I were in the market for a new saw and lived in the USA, I would probably buy a Seyco.
  21. Thanks for clearing this up. I should add that, as things stand right now, I trust products marketed by King Canada a LOT more than those marked by the remnants of the General Canada company.
  22. Thanks Ralph! As I attempted to show in the second photo, I carved a small grove at the edges between the sections that were to be stained and those that were not to be stained or to be stained a different colour..
  23. I like it. Is the pattern yours?
  24. I'm fairly sure that they are being made in the same factory that the old General International Excalibur saws were made in. They are certainly being made to (almost) the same specs.
