  1. Before changing fonts, I would stretch the A horizontally to see how it looks

Thanks to all, appreciate the kind words
  3. As I understand it, the minimum sales required for out of state sellers is going to be a state by state issue - if it exists at all. I see different numbers quoted, but with 20 billion plus up for grabs, I see states, especially cash strapped states, going after this pot of gold. Amazon now collects sales tax for the states it has a nexus in, and now that they are also remitting sales tax collected in WA & PA, I see that growing to other states. With this decision, Amazon will start including sales tax for all states. And if Amazon does not pay it, then you will have to cause you know Amazon is going to report taxable sales to the state and of course part of your deposit will be sales tax collected. The issue for your accountant is going to be the state requirement for reporting those sales, a conversation better started now than later I think.
  4. Well it happened, the 1992 supreme court decision in Quill was over turned today. You no longer have to have nexus (physical presence) in a state to be required to collect that state sales tax on sales you make online. I think it will take a year or so for states to get on the band wagon, but as it stands right now you have the responsibility to obtain a sales tax permit for each and every state your customer resides in. And of course file sales tax reports, including no sales tax due reports, and remit sales tax collected to each state per their schedule. Oh by the way, there are over 12,000 tax jurisdictions in the US. However, Amazon is now collecting and remitting sales tax for Washington and Pennsylvania. Sounds good right, ahh not in WA anyway. WA requires that you track amazon sales and sales tax collected and report it, then you take a credit for the amount Amazon is supposed to remit, and pay your sales tax. If you use quickbooks, this can be done in desktop (PITA by the way) but it can not be done in QBO.

Same portion of a pattern, done two ways The one with the cedar base is 14" high The live edge one, I wish I could have captured it in the pic, but there is a mirror as the backing to the fret work, really sparkles when the light hits it.
  6. I had a couple of squares laying around so I cut down the bar on one of them. But I see them for a buck or less in yard sales all the time. {smile} should have blown the dust off of it before the pic.

    Ocooch Hardwoods

Best prices I can find on hardwood, and the sizes are true not nominal, 8" wide means just that 8 inches. Site had a hic-cup when I ordered, no email order confirmation or shipping email, but they respond to emails quick.
  8. You are right, should do that. My saw is in another room from the main shop, no room left in the shop for it, so by the time I sand the stock, put the template on the wood, drill some holes, and get to the saw, turn on lights and radio - I am in a let's get it on attitude. That part never crosses my mind. Typically when I do the beveled cutting I square up the blade when finished, just did not do it that day.
  9. The arm stays up without an add on like easy up.
  10. by request, 15 inches tall, oak I usually don't put up stuff, but this one makes me feel good, I managed to stay on all the lines Thank you pegasus modified geometry blades, never could have done that with the FDUR I used to use
  11. I'm still fairly new at this hobby, but raise and lower the arm feel for binding, insert a blade and bring a scrap of wood, cut it at that price for an ex-21, you can afford to tweak it if you have to. Tell you what if it is in Texas, I'll go get it and let you know how it was>
  12. Never tried it, but I have used glue sticks on other things, messy IMO I'm a little heavy on the spray glue too, mineral spirits lift the pattern fine no matter how heavy I am, and then I wipe the surface with a rag in mineral spirits to get any residual glue, let dry.
  13. ROFL I just found the easy way, I had been trying to remove the white cap with the whole cap off the can Leave the cap tight on the can, put a flat blade screwdriver under the white edge and pry up, it pops right off.
  14. Cans of finish often come with those white plastic press to turn safety caps, I hate them. Anyone know an easy way to get the stupid safety cap off?
  15. I'll probably go with the post it note, thanks. My mind seems to think I am still 30 and remembers things, reality at this age is another thing {smile}
  16. Sorry for the confusion I had the head tilted on the ex-21 doing a piece, it was late and I finished, thinking I would square the blade tomorrow. it was only a 2 degree tilt, guess my calibrated eyes need re-calibration I didn't notice the next day or remember I started cutting the next day - when I went to pull out the fret from the top - oops
  17. When you are done with a piece that you compound cut .... square up the blade before you start the next one sigh
  18. Thanks all, that is about what I figured, the subject came up over some beers with friends
  19. Curious as to what the consensus is in the community. Someone posts a project, you like it, so you take a screen shot, play around and make a pattern from it, and cut it. Good, bad, indifferent?
  20. I used the FDUR blades exclusively and was happy, except with the #3, I had a hard time controlling it. Tried the Pegasus modified geometry and I love them. I find they cut straight, no more angled orientation for a straight line, they stay sharper longer, and the #3 I can control with no issues.
  21. beautiful, absolutely beautiful
  22. I found that on my EX, if the top of the blade is too high, it hits something (relief cut out I think) and that prevents it from going all the way back to be clamped
  23. Many years ago, my ex-wifes son in law gave us a fretwork duck oval trivet he purchased at a craft show. It was so nice I hung it on the wall. I got it in the divorce - :-). Over the years I kept looking at it, and two years ago home depot or lowes (can't remember which one) has a sale on a porter cable saw. Thought I would try my hand at it - turns out I like it. Found an EX-21 on craigs list and have been enjoying it ever since
  24. I mounted a 1/8 piece of masonite as a zero clearance top, one of the best things I have done - for me anyway. I made what I call a fret-finger to hold those narrow small areas while cutting EDIT - forgot to say the cutting looks great.
  25. Very very nice
