  1. Congrats Dave, I know you will like it. It would be interesting I think, you hear your impressions between the ex and the hegner
  2. D&D has the worst web page in the world. the listing in the center of the page is by the gross, off to the side is by the dozen, but be careful! they do not line up the size blades. the center might show a #5 gross, and the listing off to the right might be #3 by the dozen I mentioned the problem to them when I ordered the wrong number blade, my fault I did not read it well enough I guess, they do not seem concerned at all. Shame such a simple fix, but ... I was not asking for a refund or reshipping, it was my fault, but even though I offered to help with the site I heard nothing back. Jim
  3. I have the porter cable santa brought me 3 years ago, and the EX-21 I picked up on craigs list the following May - my go to saw, and an old type one delta a buddy traded me for a beer. multiple sanders, skill saws, jig saws, drills, etc etc
  4. beautiful work
  5. Nice work and a great idea.
  6. very very nice
  7. I get it from amazon, no problem to date
  8. I use wipe on poly, semi gloss, on only the live edge. One of those sponge brushes will get in all the cracks
  9. beautiful work
  10. griz yes it made a considerable difference to me. Easier to see the work piece and the blade in it Jim
  11. I have my table tilted, a result of someone here mentioning it a couple of years ago when I first joined. Very good ergonomic set up in my opinion. Per my hanson level (see pic), I have a tilt of 5 degrees, or a slope of 1 (one inch in 12) I am curious, those who also tilt their tables toward them, what tilt or slope do you use? EDIT - added actual pic of slope/tile level found here. https://www.ebay.com/i/292527019441?chn=ps
  12. Go for it. In the event you do come to the attention of a company who wants to spend the time on your craft and the sales of that particular image, the first thing the company lawyer does is send a "Cease and Desist" letter. At that point it is up to you.
  13. I'm with lawson, not everyone is on every site

    very nice
  15. very nice presentation and cutting
  16. I used 1/8 mdf cut it to size, drilled out the blade hole and mounting holes and secured it. Others have used the magnetic overlay from seyco, or glued a piece of laminate to the table.
  17. One night some time ago, around a camp fire, when our thirst for knowledge was running out (politically correct way of saying we were running out of beer and too drunk to go get more), we determined that Newton's law was the reason black bikes are faster. Newton said, for every action there is a reaction. We know that light, photons, travel from the sun to the earth, and we know that color as we perceive it is the reflection of photons. ergo - that reflection of protons was slowing down bikes that were not black, since black is the absence of light reflections.
  18. Terry, you see all those holes around the blade, those are dust collection holes and there is a plastic collector under the table for a vacuum attachment. When doing fret work, small frets will drop in a hole and either stop the piece from moving or sometimes clog up the plastic collection piece, most of us have removed the dust collector plastic piece. Keep it in mind if that happens. I put an overlay on my table to cover those holes and only have the blade hole to deal with. I agree with others though, you will love the EX, I wouldn't change mine out for another brand
  19. Damn that sounds familiar, I once did that to a new electric stove age 10- unfortunately the parents came home before I could get it back together.
  20. That lovely sound when the blade breaks and the upper blade holder tension level flops forward. I was cutting half inch soft basswood with a Pegasus Modified geometry blade, a number 5. Four in a row cut for a short period, and snapped, all from the same package. They all snapped at the point where the teeth change to the reverse cutting position. No changes were made to the machine, blades were installed the same way each time, EX-21 with the Pegasus clamps installed. Must have been a defect, the rest of the blades in that package were fine, but it sure is aggravating, pulling the blade out of the cut. Now I keep a pair of pliers nearby.
  21. My prayers are with you and yours, sorry for your loss the pattern and cutting are beautiful
  22. Nice work I too like the two color one the best. I am curious though, you say you do not like the looks of it from the side when using BB, could you post pics that show the side?
  23. Very nice
  24. Over the last three years y'all have provided so much help, thank you. I finally feel like I may have done something that might help someone else. I have been putting mini-clocks in various cuttings, I am not always able to add the clock hole to the design due to the odd shape of the wood, so I made this template from 1/8 BB. It allows me to move it around on the piece and when I like it, I can mark the center for drilling. Inner diameter is 1 3/8 and the outer diameter is 1 7/16 (to show where the clock bezel would be. Attached is a pdf, and a two layer photoshop file EDIT Dang photoshop, the inner diameter is fine, the outer diameter is too large - I'm Working on it Sorry guys Jim EDIT EDIT ROFL, this getting old is hard on the memory What I did, since I did not want to try to cut a 1/16 inch wide circle (not sure my skill level is there yet), was to allow for a reveal outside the bevel of the clock face. The clock face bevel has a diameter of 1 7/16 inch, slightly less than half what is shown and the inner diameter is 1 3/8 I need a beer. sigh Jim mini-clock-hole.pdf mini-clock-hole.psd
  25. I would mask off the printing and sand and finish the rest of the disk. I would not change the splits, leave as is. Finish with poly urethane or spar varnish and make them patio tables with 3-leg tripod kind of legs, probably cedar posts or baseball bats for legs. edit - I don't even want to image trying to hang a 1" think,. 21 inch diameter oak disc on the wall, those things are heavy
