  1. I just picked up (amazon) a porter cable jointer, not sure what small means to you. I just got it set up, have not used it yet, but I am impressed, fairly quiet, when assembled it was dead on 90* and 45*. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Q0I8YU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  2. Love it, that looks like a 1956 MG TD Friend had one, I drooled over it all the time, wish I could have found a wreck to buy.
  3. Beautiful chess set, but I would be leery of actually using it. All the compound cutting I have done like that, the pieces are really fragile, but then again my experience is limited to ornaments.
  4. Lucky you, if MI was not so far away would come "help"
  5. I do that all the time, I use an artists brush to get the borders, then wipe on the larger areas
  6. I put a 1/8 MDF overlay on my EX-21 to cover the vacuum holes, fret work kept dropping and hanging, wouldn't take much to make that bigger. That 1/8th does no interfere with the reverse part of the blade.
  7. I didn't want to derail Kevin's thread on his BM order, but I do have a question for those who have changed the saw they used from one where the head tilts (excaliber, etc) to something like a hegner where the table tilts. I really like the flat table to cut on when doing beveled cuts. And I was wondering, for those do beveled cutting and that have or do change saws how much change it is to adapt to the different style. I keep picturing having to stop the work from sliding while cutting. On another note, Amazon is selling the hegner .......... for more than hegner is selling them!
  8. I agree with Bill and others, some are willing to wait for what they want, others are not, nothing wrong with either position. My only concern, if I had placed an order, is them charging my CC when the order was placed, as opposed to shipped. Not only does this increase the CC balance and associated interest charged (with nothing in hand to show for it), but as I understand it, you only have 60 days to dispute a charge and get a charge back.
  9. I'll give that a try Red, thanks
  10. I use a bar of soap, let the moving blade cut a short bit Do the same thing for wood screws too.
  11. she said they have 18 saws ordered and are waiting on this part most of that 18 was ordered at Christmas time. That amazes me. Eighteen people have been and are sitting back waiting! 18 orders, each takes 2-3 weeks to make, 36 - 54 weeks if you are the last on the list, 36 weeks after they get it fixed and start Kevin, by any chance you ask what number on the list you are?
  12. Often, especially when I glue multiple puzzle patterns to a board, I have to cut that board down to manageable sizes A Spiral blade makes that easy! I keep practicing with spirals, but anything resembling a straight line is ... not happening yet. But to separate patterns, I don't need real straight lines.
  13. My ex stays rock solid in that respect, but I do not see why you can not take it out and put a jam nut on it, if blue lock-tite does not do the job for you. edt - Of course now that I said that, Murphy will visit me. sigh
  14. Very nice, clean and elegant
  15. Thanks, it was an 8x show, 8 times booth rent, so pretty good and 4 custom orders to work on too. There was a new scroller at the show, he had just heard about the show, damn he is good! He is a winter Texan, going back to Michigan end of the month. 40 years of scrolling and it shows. Wish he was staying around so I could watch and learn, but then again it was nice being the only scroller at the shows too.
  16. Same degree (about 2.5) , just the head tilt (ex-21) is in opposite directions
  17. Beautiful work, and congrats
  18. So I kept looking at those bowls I showed ihe going round n round thread and I got to thinking in my younger days, thinking usually ended with "hold my beer, I can do this" Now being much older and worn out, my thinking ends with "finish the beer, I can do this." So I did
  19. I generally start the wood couterclockwise, but the pattern really dictates it
  20. I started with a porter cable, it is tool free blade mounting, and takes both pinless and pinned blades. I still works fine, The only complaint is minor, the hockey puck in the center of the table, at least 3 years ago when I started anyway, is slightly lower than the deck. easily fixed with a playing card or make a new one slightly thicker.
  21. Beautiful
  22. Very nice especially the hummingbird
  23. Iggy we know opinions are like .... and for that reason I rarely state them I like the watco because, as Kevin says, there is a soft gloss/sheen to the finish. But more than that, with blo or the blo 50/50 mix, it seemed to me that I could always smell this mix in the wood, no matter how long it had been. Others see to be able to too, I had one customer smell two of the puzzles and picked the watco one to buy (that was before I went to watco only). To me watco feels dry, whereas the blo and blo mix always seem to have an oily feel to them. And watco seems to dry/harden quicker too. JMO, YMMV
  24. Kevin, didn't realize they sold a bunch of different ones, yes that link is the one I use.
