  1. 8-10 used to be considered decent mileage on the old trucks, I drove a 79 Dodge Ramcharger 4x4 for 250K at 9 MPG, up hill, down hill, sand, mud, towing or not, 9mpg - 35 gal tank
  2. The glue up I showed is 1/2 and I had to add a 1/8 piece of ply under one caul on top. That was so that the part that presses on the edge of the boards would center
  3. I googled some, like you could not find the straps, for the price I would just buy another I use that same mask
  4. beautiful work.
  5. Ditto, I have no idea how old my used one is, but there is no movement at all in what they call the rocker arm (item 27, highlighted, in the attached pic_.
  6. Wow! Very nice
  7. That link I posted is two sets, if you need more there are sellers selling one set individually on amazon too. I do it much easier with the kids and the wife, create a wish list, or two or three, add amazon products to the wish list, make it public send the kids a link to it. I also have one titled "Jim-do not buy" where I just put interesting things I run across, or see in a post or blog
  8. edge gluing, between not having a really large empty surface to do it on, the multiple pipe clamps, the cauls, the quick clamps, and ... drove me batty Saw this and gambled, it works! 4 Way Pressure Clamp For Clamping Panels https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073QSF8JR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Heavy duty steel clamps, and the rest of it is also quality goods. I spit a 2x4 to use as the cauls and mounted the notched tracks. I put blue painters tape on the cauls to prevent them from being glued to the panel, that worked, I am wondering if wax paper would have been better? the tape did stick to the panel in one spot. And my new jointer works great too (maybe its me but I think it ought to be called an edger instead) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004Q0I8YU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 EDIT: I figure someone will ask, that is a 20"wide x 24" panel
  9. I have it and use it. I like it. I would suggest you get this with it https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072LXHBHP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 the one for dremel does not fit the wen
  10. Really nice cutting, he will appreciate it.
  11. very very nice
  12. My shop looks that neat and organized about once every 2 years when I get the "I got to clean this up" disease. And week later you can;'t tell I did anything LOL Nice place, curious though, the Hawk seems (from the pics) to have the two front legs on that rubber mat, are the back legs on the mat too? If not how is that working out with two legs on the mat?
  13. Pretty amazing what you did, one hand - wow
  14. Those who participate in the sport of falconering wear a heavy leather glove so the talons of the bird of prey (hawk, falcon) do not dig into their arm.
  15. awesomely beautiful! Nice delicate cutting
  16. Really nice clean cutting and design
  17. Sure looks pretty, congrats on it arriving. I am looking forward to your review too, especially in view of how many puzzles you cut a day
  18. Congrats, Looking forward to both initial impressions and a comparison between the hawk and the EX
  19. Rough turn of events, take it easy and don't push it. But you do have time now to collect patterns or make some, and those estate sales just might have .....
  20. Very nice
  21. I hope you continue to cut on the Excalibur now that it is set up correctly. I would be really curious, some time down the line, to see if you think the Hawk is worth the extra money. A compare and contrast kind of thing with cost in mind. Good luck
  22. Take a pic of it, there are some really amazing pattern makers here who will help.
  23. I did, it burns up the blade, the teeth come right off, has to do with the epoxy or whatever they use to make it
  24. Beautiful, have to love team work
  25. I can not comment on any jointer, this is my first. Going to play with it some then try something I got stuck in my mind, so who knows might be a nice anchor some day.
