  1. I did the BLO, then the 50/50 blo/ms finally settled on the Watco natural, does basically the same but seems to dry better IMO
  2. thanks for the kind words, y'all
  3. Kerrville, Texas, exit 508 on I-10 about 60 miles west of San Antonio The show is first Saturday of the month only, 0800 - 1500 at the Youth Events Center (locally called the Ag Barn) on Hwy 27 between Kerrville and Center Point. edit - the show is combination of second hand and crafters, about 10K sq ft inside
  4. The local show here starts each year in March, skips June and July (just too hot in the barn), so being the procrastinator that I am sometimes, I started cutting
  5. Well that would have me calling the credit card company to cancel the charge for lack of fulfillment. I just can not see charging the card if it does not ship within 30 days which as I understand it is the standard. I do know that some CC companies do not allow a vendor to charge the card until the item ships. I would not want that price adding to interest charges on the card either.
  6. Whoa! they have charged you? When you placed an order instead of when it ships?
  7. Steve Good in his latest email has a link for bench cookies. https://www.amazon.com/Bench-Cookie®-Plus-Work-Grippers/dp/B006N789W0/ref=pd_bxgy_60_2/132-9685102-9942748?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B006N789W0&pd_rd_r=7ad93416-350e-11e9-8eed-ede60a98848e&pd_rd_w=5wjzB&pd_rd_wg=9cjCt&pf_rd_p=6725dbd6-9917-451d-beba-16af7874e407&pf_rd_r=4H8VR9607QXRC1R04HBA&psc=1&refRID=4H8VR9607QXRC1R04HBA Anyone use them with scroll work? Edit - One of the pic of these things show a board sitting on them and a full size router (not a trim router) being used. I find it hard to believe that would work, anyone done that with these things?
  8. Beautiful
  9. Two different sizes, roughly 7x9, and 7x11 generally 3/8" thick or thereabouts I coat the live edge with poly I get the live edge pieces on Amazon, it is a crap shoot, some have the knots, always in the weirdest places. EDIT - The top one I did with 1/4" wide "rings" and the bottom on is done with 3/8" wide "rings"
  10. Very well done
  11. Decided to try this (twice), might make a nice potpourri dish or a place to toss your car keys when you get home
  12. I tried something like that (not quite as nice though), but where I set up there is wind, and wind knocked my products off the shelves. Funny part of that is my set up is inside, but they keep the doors, loading dock type doors, open. Please let us know how it works for you and some pics of your cuttings on the shelves would be great.
  13. Kevin, Since you can put up more than one pic, why not do a pic of the clock in wood, a pic prying it out, and a pic showing the stem adjustment. Use that same set of pics on every posting. could be one pic with three parts too
  14. I was out there scrolling and when finished I compared the two, the design is the same, two ears stick out, with a screw. Could be the pegas clamp material is more resistant to the spreading of the ears, I think it is too early to tell. Hope it is true though since I bought some
  15. Rolf said, "If you are even slightly heavy handed you will spread the clamps and have to replace the arms. Pegas has resolved that issue with their replacement clamps." I think he means replace the clamps not arms. As I see it, the clamp design is the same. Different materials, and they add a lock nut to the left side clamping screw. But the action of holding the blade is the same, turn the adjusting knob to screw down and hold the blade. If you have a heavy hand, I can't see any reason that the clamp will not spread the way the stock excaliber clamps do. Less vibration, true they are lighter than the stock clamps. Yes I broke down and bought some. They are definitely better than what was on there - but then again a new muffler is better than the old worn out one too. My EX was used when I bought it so I have never experienced new excaliber clamps to be able to compare them to the pegas clamp. And that I think should be the starting point of a comparison, new vs new. But I can not see how any issue is resolved in terms of heavy handedness and the spreading of the clamp jaws.
  16. It's not voltage that is the issue when using a transformer like that, I used them all the time both in Europe and the far east when stationed there. The issue is the frequency that the electric company transmits. In the US our electric companies transmit at 60 hz. Overseas they transmit at 50hz, that makes motors run slower. Before manufacturers began putting voltage selector switches on components, record player needed a special 50hz spindle, tape decks just did not sound right, etc etc. Running a 60hz motor at 50hz overheats it and it's life span is shortened, very counter intuitive and I never really grasped why that is. the difference between 50 and 60 hz is a 20% change in motor speed Australia and New Zealand use 50 hz, as does most of the world by the way.
  17. stunning pic,. out standing work and doing it on live edge gives it a nice depth of character
  18. Beautiful work, and the harley softail is stunning
  19. Yes I know you can adjust the rack & pinion where you want it (Ex21), but, I would like to put stops at 2.5* and 4.5* and maybe 18* those are the angles I use, I never cut cove molding on the scroll saw so 22.5 doesn't make sense to me, and 45?
  20. Back to the subject of detents, adjustable detents, maybe 3-4 of them would really attract me. I'd like to be able to set zero degrees, and then a couple of stops left and right of zero. If the pagas saw detants can adjust all the way down toward zero for small angles, rather just within a range of the presets, 22.5 and 45, I wish someone would say so in their review
  21. late to the party again, but I like the smaller clock, but not the wood relief around it. If I could I would reduce the size of the clock relief area to the size of the smaller clock or 1/16 larger.
  22. A step drill bit and some judicious drilling will solve the size problem https://www.amazon.com/Neiko-10194A-Titanium-Drill-Speed/dp/B000FZ2UOY?ref_=Oct_BSellerC_256287011_1&pf_rd_p=0c52eddb-bf3e-5079-a600-1a1baeabeb0f&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-6&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=256287011&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=4PVPBA6XGDP4FG4292NW&pf_rd_r=4PVPBA6XGDP4FG4292NW&pf_rd_p=0c52eddb-bf3e-5079-a600-1a1baeabeb0f EDIT: Well shoot just read that you are not willing to drill it out
  23. Very nice work, I am dog guy, but I also think the darker wood looks better. And the two so very different shades of the same wood, made me wonder, so after some research and I found this to answer my question The dry heartwood is a light to medium red-brown colour. The sapwood is light brown to white and exhibits toning in greys, browns and greens.
  24. At least this one pointed out a couple of issues, the dust collector and the blower line-lock connection Thanks
  25. Now, it's a matter of having to hold the quill down, hold the table and unwind the table lock. I only have 2 hands and this task requires 3 or more I put one of those small bungee cords on the base, wind down the quill and loop the bungee around the handle to hold it down, tada third hand YMMV
