  1. Some time ago I put a 1/8" piece of masonite on the table, countersinking the holes for the bolts. Since then others have used double sided tape and it seem to work too, would have been easier. Would not be hard to extend the table doing that, probably 1/4 thick if extending the top. The shiny side of the masonite waxes up real good too. I did it cause the piece I was cutting, fretwork, would get hung up when a cut out piece would drop and catch in one of the vacuum holes preventing me from moving the piece I was cutting.
  2. Very nice
  3. Congrats Kevin, well deserved
  4. With BB and stain I found the best way to prep the BB is to first wipe it down with mineral spirits, let dry, stain Be sure you are wearing those latex gloves, the oil on our skin when transferred to BB seems to make it splotchy sometimes
  5. I watched it, not impressed to be honest, unless I missed something startling you could have substituted the Excalibur name for Pegas throughout the video. Well powder coated (maybe) table excluded I think the give away was at the start when he read the model number, one of them was Ex-21
  6. JT, that bolt clock is great.
  7. I look at this issue as a marketing tool as well as something I want. With all the brands coming out, all using the excaliber basis, it comes down to what color do you want to look at in your shop. I;m not thinking about starter saws, mid to upper level saws is where I would add it. All it would take is to retool the table top is to add some tapped holes for clamps to hold the under side tubing, then lock-line for part you position. Dust floats down, if the lock-line is to the side, it will suck in the majority of it, maybe all of it. The top lock line, like I said, put it inside the upper arm, or on top and remold the upper arm cover to hide it. One manifold for a vacuum to connect to. Do not include a vacuum, make it an optional accessory, just as now a light is an option in the upper and mid level saws (starter saws come with them, at least porter cable does). Cost - yea it would increase cost somewhat, but drastically, I doubt it. And let's face it, most of us buy the machine on a CC which you either pay off, or make payments on, if you make payments, the difference in payment is not going to be much at all. And if it were me selling them, I would just eat the cost increase, and accept a slightly lower margin, sales would flow to my saw I think.
  8. Very nice cutting, thanks for showing it. And thanks Kevin for the posting of the pic and the kind words
  9. Gorgeous! absolutely gorgeous.
  10. The way I see it, that minuscule amount of paper included will work as filler and it will sand and take stain/oil, after all paper is wood. I didn't think about it but the recent batch of filler I mixed up worked fine, and it sanded fine too. EDIT: tape and shelf liner I don't know, don't use them. But I doubt that will make much difference ------------ Rocky, when you need more turn off the dust collection, make saw dust, collect it, turn it back on.
  11. found a new use for them, well new to me anyway. fill them with saw dust, label it, and anytime you need to make wood filler for that type of wood you have saw dust available
  12. Its great that we share good customer service, know what else is nice? send the link to this thread to them. As a business owner I always liked it a lot when something like that happened, instead of nothing but complaints
  13. I can not see that a built in dust collection system is that hard to design. In my view I am not real interested in picking up fret work, dust is my issue. And to pick up dust the opening of the vacuum tube only has to be in the approximate area. I have an ex-21 so with that in mind, replace the present upper arm tubing with a larger diameter tube, and run a connecting tube inside the upper arm to under the table, where it joins a manifold. From that manifold another tube goes to the bottom clamp, wider mouth, but not directly underneath, next to it. Your vacuum hose plugs into the manifold
  14. I'm still using 03 too with a blank page, use the menu insert>picture> XXXX the pic will inset where the typing cursor is. You can enlarge it, and depending on the quality it may look good or not
  15. When you print a picture, printer software automatically centers it You have to print a page, which means putting your pic on a page to be printed, you do that in inkscape using the outline of a page in the work space, or you can add it to a word document, or make the canvas size of the pic the size of the paper
  16. Scrappile, no Ace hardware here - small town Thanks though
  17. No sooner typed that it was 60 miles away, searched again and Walmart has it, ordered it
  18. I found this in a google search, naturally not in stock unless I want to go 60 miles one way good to know it does in fact dry clear thanks
  19. Thanks Ike
  20. Nice tip thanks Couple of more Next time you see a Dr. ask for some tongue depressors, they stil have them. Break one lengthwise, they almost always break with one side having a very fine point. And being hardwood they can be sharpened to a point if needed, and of course they are free. Chicken Express, order corn on the cob and they give you two or more dowels, hard wood, already sharpened to a point. I am close to needing a refill of wood glue, I notice a lot of folks seem to like titebond, so while at home depot I thought I would get some. Two or three varieties, but none of them say dries clear - do all titebond glues dry clear, or at if your flavor of titebond does, what flavor is it? TIA
  21. Very nice clean work, looks great
  22. Nice cutting. Subs are something I could do, but not long term, thanks for your service
  23. built in dust collection, top and bottom
  24. In a town in Bracketville, Texas, back in the day the Duke spent his money to create a western town and the Alamo. That was where most of the filming went on, when they were done filming he gave it all to the ranch who owned the property. it was used to film C&W music videos too. The owners did not announce when a singer will be there, if you are there at the same, lucky you. inside all the buildings are photo's, candid shots of the stars relaxing with little cartoon clouds of what they said, adlib type comments Unfortunately they closed in 09 and sold it all off in 2014, though the buildings are still there it is closed to the public now
  25. Yea that place is right proud of what they sell I just stumbled across this one, never heard of it before
