  1. I'm not sure what you mean by bearings and sleeves. When I put the Pegas clamps on my excaliber, there was a sleeve that went over the mounting screw
  2. home made cyclone collectors are all over utube I hope you have a db meter app on your phone I am really curious about the noise level
  3. Very nice Kevin, kudo's
  4. Thanks to all of y'all for the nice comments Yes, @dgman, that is western red cedar, aspen and mahogany - sorry forgot to mention the wood choice in the OP, cut with PMG#3
  5. Well maybe, this is the third piece of intarsia I have done, this one I am pretty much happy with, still room for improvement, but with luck I might move from apprentice to journeyman sometime soon
  6. I use a propane heater in my shop, I've heard them called a torpedo heater That said, I use it to heat the shop and then turn it off. I also do not generate the massive amounts of sawdust you production cutters do. I do run that ceiling dust filter by Wen too. Even so I see sawdust speckling the heater, there is no effect at all when it is running. That outer shield is not anywhere near hot enough to cause a flare up. My experience, your mileage may vary
  7. Ambitious project, nice cutting and wood choice too. The pic show the back side of the map, hmmm wonder how that would work, Calif on the east coast - ROLF - @namunolieDon't let it worry you, just joking around. Again really nice.
  8. Interesting pic of the excaliber, looks like the head does not tilt, looks like the table tilts. If that is the case anyone know what year the ex came out with the tilting head?
  9. Brown, normally I like black, but for some reason the brown looks better to me. Nice cutting
  10. Really nice clean cutting
  11. I use a translucent wood glue and sawdust all the time. When I mix it I try for a silly putty consistency. Basically if you can see the "glint" of the glue, add saw dust.
  12. Page says it will hold a 1/32'd bit, so no 1/32'd is 0.0313" #72 is 0.0250"
  13. Very nice, the Paladin one brings back some memories, I always liked that show. 007 not so much, though for the time period the eye candy was nice.
  14. ROFL blue - need a wrench red - need a wrench and a breaker bar green - need a wrench, a breaker bar, and a torch
  15. Very nice, I especially like the first one
  16. I do appreciate it Dave, and you can critique, suggest, or just bang me over the head any time you want. You are so good at this it amazes me
  17. Ahh my mistake in posting, the bottom two pics are same, but I had played with turning the axis of the piece and didn't realize I had posted both options
  18. So, knowing that I have to use BB as a backer, and that means a stain, what stain would y'all have picked? The wife does not like gunstock, where as I do, probably from growing up with guns made with wood as opposed to today's style
  19. own worst critic - most likely true I guess - it's just I have this concept in my head what it should look like, but .... Yeah this is the second piece of intarsia I have tried, due to wood constraints it is about one third the size of JGR's pattern
  20. Second attempt, the second piece of intarsia I have tried Thanks for the kind words.
  21. I think if I had enough wood to do this full size, it might be easier, the back board for this is 8x10. Tried some things I thought would work, some did; but, many did not, raising my frustration level with this aspect of scrolling. I think I will file a law suit against my ophthalmologist, when he did cataract surgery he must have removed what little artistic ability I had. BB backer with gunstock stain, mahogany, aspen, and mahogany with ebony stain
  22. Bill nailed it ( ahh unintentional pun) I glue stacks the same way, spring clamps, glue on each corner (both sides) and in the middle of each side usually. Go to hobby lobby, michaels, etc and pick them up, when you find the one you like for the size, get it. But to be honest, I've used small and large, and I find very little difference is actually using them, you just don't have them in your hand that long.
  23. Very nice
  24. That you counted the teeth amazes me, kudo's, don't think I could do it with me close up vision
