  1. Thanks Les. Easy to make
  2. You are full of great ideas, Kevin
  3. Thanks RJ. Easy cutting. Sanding and glue up took some time.
  4. Very good idea. The patters in the book can be adapted many ways.
  5. This is a pattern Steve Good posted several weeks ago. I like making baskets, so I thought I would give this a try. I modified the pattern slightly by adding a 1/2" Hard Maple base. I used 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood. It is 8" in diameter at the widest part and 4" high. I used FD UR #1 blades and finished with spray Polyurethane Clear Satin. Comments welcome.
  6. Thanks Kevin.
  7. In our store, ArtCrafters, we sell Sculpey 111. Knead the clay and shape it into the area. Bake at 275 degrees for 15 minutes per 1/4".
  8. Several years ago at the Scroll Saw picnic, I purchased the Sand Flee. It was very expensive, but a worthwhile investment for sanding fretwork.
  9. Thanks Bobby. Quite a bit west of us.
  10. Thanks Dave
  11. Thanks Bobby. When you say southern TN, where exactly?
  12. Thanks Marg. You are right. I made a dream catcher with a Bison. The pattern is by Sue Mey.
  13. Thanks RJ. I don't keep track of time. If I would venture a guess, maybe 5 hours.
  14. Thanks for the comments
  15. Very well done. As Paul said, the book just doesn't do justice to the patterns.
  16. Thanks Lew. I enlarged the pattern by about 35% to make it a little easier.
  17. Thanks Paul. Mine too. Years ago we saw Bison up close and personal at Custer State Park in South Dakota. Of course we stayed in the car!
  18. Thanks Jim. With the design I couldn't use spiral blades ( lots of straight lines} so I used FD UR blades.
  19. I finished this on Monday, May 13th, actually took several Mondays. The pattern is by Jacob Fowler and found in "Woodworker's Pattern Book". I used 1/2" Mahogany 8" x 12" with 3/4" Red Oak for the base. The base has a slot to hold the upright. I used FD UR #1 and #5 blades. The finish is three coats of spray Polyurethane Clear Satin. Comments welcome.
  20. I didn't use any stains, just spray Shellac. Show pictures when finished.
  21. Thanks John. I just used the eyes to make sure it was aligned.
  22. Thanks all for the nice comments.
  23. Thanks Marg. No, I have not heard much about Gary. The book is rather old, but still some good patterns.
  24. Thanks Bobby. This took a full sheet of 12" x 24" plywood.
  25. Thanks Bobby.
