The fine line between "being busy" and "I don't have time for all of this!!!" LOL... Fortunately I'm off from the day job this week and can try to get ahead of things... which translates trying to guess what people are going to want aside from the usual popular items.

Hey Gary, thanks. The leash holders are actually new in the past month. I was exclusively animal puzzles for the first 3 years and been doing just fine but decided to try the leash holders and they're a nice addition to my mix, using the same animals/patterns basically.

I had my first of 4 holiday craft events today and I'm freaking out cuz I have so much to cut to fulfill orders AND restock. LOL

My holiday market crush has begun... 4 Saturdays in a row. #1 was today and was solid, beating my best day at this event out of 3 years. I had a new display rack for my key/leash holders and it was a huge success. My location was excellent and everyone saw it as they were walking by. I took orders for 10 leash holders before I sold my first puzzle. LOL Final tally 26 puzzles and 21 key/leash holders. I have a lot of cutting to do this week to fill the leash holder orders and to prepare for events, 2, 3 & 4 in case they're as good as today was. Photos of my booth setup today and my view.

Very nice. I just ordered that book yesterday so I can expand my kids puzzle options at events.

Thanks Ralph. I use Harvey's non-puzzle version patterns unless a custom name is requested like ROCKY in which case I get Harvey to draw it up for me, he charges $20 and I pass that on to the customer.

So, last year was my first year doing Autumn Topsail about an hour from home. 2 day event, I sold 180 puzzles, it was CRAZY! My best event ever. This year approached, I cut, cut, cut, cut... the weather forecast looked beautiful... then Nestor formed in the gulf and decided to come for a visit. Fortunately Saturday was dry until 4pm, but then overnight rain and wind made it not so good for Sunday so I chose not to set back up. (and it's a good thing since my Jeep broke down on the way to the venue Sunday as my wife headed there to enjoy the event as shoppers). Anyway, my new key/leash holders are continuing to do well and using a new display rack to show them. I sold 72 puzzles and took orders for 11 leash holders. I've gotten them cut, I just need to get the hooks on them and get them shipped out. Photo of some them done along with a custom one requested by a local shopper with their dogs name in the body... say hi to Rocky. 4 holiday events to go this year... 4 Saturdays in a row starting Nov 23.

Humorous stuff... Someof you already know about Griffin, our most recent rescue dog. We knew he was half Pitbull, but the other half was a mystery. I thought maybe Schnauzer, but after having a DNA test done, we found out the other part is Shihtzu... So, we have what is possibly a one of a kind PitBULL SHIHTzu mix... or what I like to call him... a BULLSHIHT. I sent Harvey Byler 4 photos of Griffin and I just received his drawing and here he is as a puzzle...

I have customers literally world wide that purchase Harvey's patterns from my site. I'm not sure of the details of how purchases in other currencies occur, but it must not be too complicated. Check my site if you're interested. Scroll down to the PATTERNS area, they are $3 each (US). www.WoodcraftByScott.com -

THANK YOU to all who ordered patterns in September. A record breaking month of 380 patterns sold (avg is around 150). Along with custom pattern orders, Harvey was going to receive $1430 and I chose to match the number and round it up a little in order to get it to $3,000. If it weren't for Harvey, I wouldn't be where I am today, enjoying my hobby of making puzzles and selling thousands of them the past 3 years. I hope that he accepts this small token of appreciation, by all of us, for him and his work. I'm mailing his September sales report and check to him today. Thank you again, Iggy -

I just saw your order come thru, thank you Kevin, very kind of you and very much appreciated. Harvey is going to get one heck of a check this month thanks to you and so many folks ordering patterns. My wife and I will be jacking up the overall amount and I've written Harvey a letter that will accompany his monthly report letting him know about the generosity from literally around the globe. -
LOL, I'm the fastest whittler in history.

I took orders for 6 leash holders at my event this past Saturday, here are 4 of them done along with a custom WOLFPACK request I'd received earlier. Last weekly market coming up this Saturday, then my best event comes up in October, followed by 4 holiday markets... Busy markets, lots of cutting to do...

Thanks, just responded. -
LOL, yeah, as usual, the media takes a few liberties, especially when writing about something they don't know anything about.

Thanks Kevin. But I'm sure my website will continue to be as quiet as usual. LOL Impulse buy in person is all my silly little puzzles are good for.

So... today's 'holy cow' surprise... I was set up as a vendor at the American Craft Walk Wilmington and one of my customers mentioned she saw a story about the event in a local magazine, Encore, and saw the picture of my setup. I got home, got curious and lo and behold... I'd forgotten that the organizers of the event had emailed me asking some questions and I responded. I had no idea it was for a magazine article. Pretty cool. Picture of my booth at the top and then a detailed write-up about me. We had perfect weather and I came within 4 puzzles of hitting my all time record for a 1 day event. http://www.encorepub.com/american-craft-week-walk-2019/

Thank you. I had no idea he had done that. I'm going to have to have a chat with him about this. LOL

Are you able to snap a photo of what they showed of Harvey's? I just placed an order for the issue when I saw you post this so that I can see it all and then share with Harvey but would like to get a sneak peek if possible.

Hey Jim, solar panels held up fine. We only had 65mph winds at the peak. Waiting to see how they do with 110mph winds.

If you go with puzzle version you can always convert to non-puzzle relatively easy. I do it all the time especially now for my key/leash holders. -

A fellow puzzle zombie stepped up his display! Roger (Scrolling By Design) has actually been cutting Harvey's puzzles longer than I have and his new displays are fabulous. He has 2 puzzles unwrapped so that shoppers can touch and feel them. -
Hey Gang, my apologies for not checking in. It was a long week of anticipation waiting for Dorian to reach us and Thursday night was a bit of a ride with 62mph sustained winds for a few hours, but we came out just fine and amazingly didn't even lose power. Most of the rest of the town did lose power and minimal issues anywhere in town. We got lucky, it stayed just enough offshore (18 miles). Any closer and it would have been really rough.

I just mailed off 2 pictures of our newest rescue dog to have Harvey draw it up. We knew he was half Pit Bull but the other half was a mystery... I thought Schnauzer, but we just had his DNA done and it turns out the other part is Shih-Tzu. So I'm having Harvey draw it up as a BULLSHIHT. Yes. Really. LOL I've told the story of our dog to a few shoppers at my booth the past 2 events and they crack-up so I want to have a puzzle of him laying there among the other 70 breeds I display. See who spots it. LOL Check out his mohawk on his head and down his back as well as his fuzzy chest and hind legs. He's hilarious looking.

They use propane for lighting and general power and they use Excalibar saws. He also is allowed to use the phone in town to conduct business. It's 7 miles from his home/shop. The town offers a car service for the Amish and will pick-up and drop-off. Every once in a while they will go into town via horse and buggy.
