  1. Hi Brenda, they are great for beginners and with practice you'd be fine in no time. I use standard stock wood which they say is 1" but is actually 3/4" thick. I do not round any edges nor do I do any sanding. The photo above of the new puzzle zombie are cut from pine. Mine are poplar.
  2. I have hatched another puzzle zombie. LOL They cut one or two, and before they realize it, they're hooked. He bought the donkey pattern to make for a friend and then a couple of hours later he was buying more...
  3. Thanks for sharing your experiences with the various outlets.
  4. Nice cutting Justin. First of all, thanks for purchasing the patterns from my site, Harvey Byler appreciates it. As far as blade, I use #3 Pegas Modified Geometry. Before that, I used #3 Olson Mach Speed. I always cut 3/4" poplar. Yes, speed needs to be cranked up. I keep mine around 7 1/2 out of 8 on my DeWalt. If you find the puzzle pieces aren't sliding in and out smoothly from both sides, adjust the tilt of your table making test cuts until you find the "sweet spot". Don't count on using the tilt gauge or a 90 degree angle on your blade, it's best to just tweak things til you find it. Keep up the good work and have fun with them. Let me know if you have any questions. If you haven't already watched my videos, I have a couple where I cut a sea turtle and another cutting a dragon, just search You Tube for my name Scott Seifer
  5. Ha! I joke with another vendor friend of mine "I earned 22 'Your stuff is amazing!' dollars today!" If only we got paid based on compliments.
  6. I actually had a situation with my new DW788 that I just received where it was bending the end of the blade and the set screw was exactly where it should have been, BUT it was turning when tightening with the thumbscrew. I tried blue locktite a couple of times but it wouldn't hold. I finally put a dab of wood glue on the set screw and it's holding now. I likely won't ever need to move it so I don't care if it's glued in solid.
  7. Nice going Ike.
  8. And not a moment too soon... I'm beat... I'm fried... I'm DONE! My last event today was mediocre which kind of summed up the year. Sales $$$ were down 12% this year compared to last year. 2019 - 943 puzzles sold at 24 events 2018 - 1072 puzzles sold at 20 events I started hearing more and more at events "We bought 2 of your puzzles last year and we love them!" Great to hear, but no additional sale. That's why I started doing the key/leash holders and I look forward to really showcasing them next year after test marketing them the past month. I'll stockpile puzzles over the winter as usual and will also make a decent quantity of the popular dog breeds as leash holders to have on hand at events. Anyway, a solid year for a "hobby" business. I have some final orders to cut the next couple of days, then I'm DONE DONE! Merry Christmas to all. Especially my puzzle zombies out there.
  9. As someone mentioned, you can order custom patterns on my site. Go down to the PATTERNS area and you'll see a category for customs. Let me know if any questions. You can email at [email protected] as well.
  10. Thanks. Harvey is happy to do custom names/towns, etc within any animal. I do them for every beach town I have an event at.
  11. Very nice cutting... and welcome to my cult.
  12. Holiday Market 1 - Very Good Holiday Market 2 - Even better Holiday Market 3 - Yesterday and was mediocre... A decent start, but final 2 hours totally dead. Holiday Market 4 - Looks like it'll be a rain-out if the weather forecast holds true The good news about market #3 was that a local oceanfront motel owner who I know stopped by my booth and she hadn't seen my new specialized Carolina Beach hooks yet and she loved them and asked me to make 22 of them for the rooms. Now I have a project for January. LOL I'll do 6 of each all as wall mounted hooks, giving her 2 extras for the entrance/office/check-in area. I have to convert the dolphin and pelican since I hadn't done any of them yet.
  13. Hahahahaha!!!! I go through a roll about every 3 to 4 weeks.
  14. If you can't tell by my annoying posts, I'm having a fun time with these new key/leash/hook holders that I've started making... I've decided I'm going to change things up this Saturday at what may be my last event of the year by reducing the number of puzzles I display and showcasing about 10 of the new items and take orders for them. The dog leash holders will always be the big seller, but I think I'll get interest in other animals as well. Especially the Unicorn, Dragon and maybe BigFoot. I've sold 50 of them in the past 2 weeks so I see potential and want to really showcase them. I'll snap pictures of my modified setup and I'll do a video for my You Tube page as well.
  15. I can get 20 or 21 patterns on a 6' board, yes, always standard 1x12 poplar. If I'm in a crunch and need to produce a lot, I can cut all of them in 1 day. But generally I spread it out over 3 days... 1 day to cut the outlines. 1 day to do all of the internal and detail cuts. 1 day to cut them into puzzle pieces. Because I have a day job I spend only 1-2 hours a day cutting spread out throughout the day.
  16. Correct. Blue painters tape is great for smaller pieces, but since I start with 6' long boards this peel & stick works great.
  17. I buy 12" wide boards, 6' length and I apply it to the entire board then spray glue the surface, then stick my patterns to it. Sample photo.
  18. For any of my puzzle zombies or anyone else that use the shelf liner, it's available online at Michael's for 50% off if you buy 6 rolls or more (in 6 roll increments) ($4.10 a roll). I bought 12 rolls a few days ago when it was 40% off and it arrived today and when I went online just now so I could share the link, it's now 50% off... so I ordered 12 more rolls. If they run out, it's my fault. LOL https://www.michaels.com/duck-brand-peel-and-stick-clear-adhesive-laminate--12-inch-width/D061866S.html
  19. I "convert" some of the puzzle patterns to non-puzzle by using White Out on the puzzle connectors. See attached. Non-Rescue.pdf
  20. Excellent, glad to hear it. Keep me posted, I enjoy hearing from my puzzle zombies. I just had someone order a Rescue leash holder so I'll be cutting 2 of them today. One to fill the order, the other to display at my event tomorrow.
  21. Thanks for the feedback on mounting holes location, I'll give that some thought. As to the D ring or saw tooth, I want these mounted solidly to the wall. People will be hanging their keys and dog leashes on them and yanking them off on a regular basis so I don't think those options would work too well.
  22. I've received a number of questions about the leash holders I make so I just shot a quick video for anyone interested.
  23. Thanks John, I'm very happy with it and it keeps people looking at things for a while, which then catches the interest of other people who wonder what everyone is looking at.
  24. My batteries are running low right now. LOL Glad the season is winding down. I'm on vacation from the day job this week so I'm trying to get ahead of things and cutting everything I can think of.
