  1. So, I posted side by side pictures of one with the wood pegs and one with the metal hooks and said "Personal preference, which do you prefer, Wood pegs or Metal hooks?" My fellow scroll saw friends leaned towards the pegs but all of my friends/customers said they prefer the metal hooks. LOL We'll see how many people choose the wood pegs when given the option starting this Saturday at my first craft event of the year.
  2. That one shown in the photo is the only one I've done as a test and I hadn't drilled the holes for mounting which I plan on doing same as with the metal hooks.
  3. Hey RJ, just been cutting as all events had been cancelled. My weekly local market started up today but I waited to see how it went, but I'll be there next week. I'll offer both metal and wood options and I'll report back on the results after a few events.
  4. I'm with Kevin I like the look of the metal hooks. The pegs do "blend in" nicer though for sure. Of the dozens of pieces I've sold so far, nobody had asked about a wooden peg option, so I know the metal hooks are liked. It will be interesting when I offer the option now what folks will lean towards. I just ordered 600 pegs so I'm counting on a few people wanting them. I don't even want to think about painting or staining them. I'm too lazy for stuff like that. LOL
  5. I had originally thought of using wooden pegs, but honestly, when I was at Lowe's the day I thought of doing the leash holders last summer, I couldn't find any and went with metal hooks. I finally got around to ordering some as a test... Whatcha think? An option for buyers... black hooks, antique brass hooks or wood pegs... Pegs are less expensive which is always nice.
  6. Late to the party as usual... thanks everyone for chiming in. Let me know if any questions or requests. You can email me any time at WoodcraftByScott@gmail.com
  7. Here you go, I did a video showing it. Shrink wrap bags...
  8. In February I realized I was way behind on cutting in preparation for craft season and I said "I sure wish I had more time to cut in order to catch up and stockpile." Boom, that's when C19 started to show up. I'm sorry everyone, I didn't mean it... I have gotten caught up though. But I'll be lucky if I do many if any events this year. All of my big ones have been canceled through mid-August, so we'll see...
  9. Beautiful work, thanks for sharing... and for showing the rest of us up.
  10. Had a question about a new blade. I bought my DeWalt 788 4 years ago and the blade that came with it worked great for a while but it seems to be going dull because I'm really having to push or slow down to get it to cut. I've cut about 3,000 of these puzzles. Is it time for me to buy a new blade? If one lasted me 4 years, why would I buy an entire dozen? Do people go in together and buy a pack and split them up? Thanks.
  11. Nice cutting. How dare you intermix a non-Harvey pattern in there! LOL
  12. Hey everyoned, didn't see this thread. By all means modify Harvey's patterns if needed. I do it on a handful of his patterns either due to "weak spots" or to remove an unnecessary puzzle connector. He does beautiful work, but doesn't mean they're all perfect, right?
  13. He's in a situation where he has so many great ideas that would do well, he can't get to them all. LOL The states were a great idea and the one or two he did have done well, but finding time to do each one is tough for him.
  14. I just posted pictures of 4 of the new patterns that I cut this morning over in the Bragging Rights area.
  15. I cut 4 of Harvey's new animal pile patterns this morning. Beautiful artwork as usual. The horses were definitely the most detailed...
  16. Here was last years inventory... I'm behind this year.
  17. Well, my first crafts event of the year was supposed to be tomorrow, but I'll be surprised if I get to do any before Sept or October if at all this year, but at least I'm able to build my inventory... Plenty of cutting done lately... now need to get shrinkwrapping caught up. LOL
  18. Great idea, I'll suggest it to him. I'm a dinosaur nut so I'll push the idea hard.
  19. 3/4" is good so it can stand for display. Whatever type of wood you like works.
  20. One of my zombies just sent me this pic of the pile of bunnies...
  21. Correct. Harvey's patterns are not really meant for young children. Small pieces. I make it a point at events to let people know they aren't for kids.
  22. Well done sir! Thanks for sharing.
  23. Hi Everyone, Harvey Byler, the artist of the animal puzzles that I make and sell patterns for is working on a new item. I'm calling them Animal Piles. Other artists have done some as some of you may be aware. Harvey has done 6 so far and they're available now on my site. Attached is a freebie to try out and if you like it, all I ask is that you check out the others. I just received them, so I haven't cut any yet. If you cut one, please share photos! Pile-Bears.pdf
  24. My company (day job) put a freeze on all travel for all 3,000 employees about 2 weeks ago. No visiting clients, no conferences, etc. Now a push for everyone to work from home (which many already do including myself). It's going to be a weird couple of months coming up.
  25. Well, I knew it would happen and it has begun... scheduled craft events are cancelling... My big 2 day event over Easter just cancelled and I'm waiting for my big 1 day event April 25th to announce... On the bright side I'm way behind on cutting, so at least now it isn't so bad. I do this as a hobby business so I don't depend on these events to eat or pay my mortgage but I have a number of vendor friends who do and I feel really bad for what they're about to have to endure the next couple of months. And darnit I was all ready...
