  1. Hi Jen and welcome to the Village. Glad you found us and look forward to your participation. Hope your back is doing well now. I would think it would be difficult to scroll for long with a bad back. Do you get up and take regular breaks? As far as your Dewalt, it sounds like from your post you are mechanically inclined. There are videos available on servicing your saw yourself. I know that I have seen several here that have done this themselves. You might look into that and perhaps someone who has done so will chime in with more info.
  2. Another nice looking project Edward. Thanks for showing.
  3. Hi George and welcome to the Village from East Tennessee. Look forward to your participation here.

    Charlie!!

Excellent work and handsome Charlie. Your daughter will be thrilled with it no doubt. Thanks for showing.
  5. I think anyone would be happy with that Dick. Nice work. Thanks for showing.
  6. Nice work on all of these Jeff. Thanks for showing.
  7. Looking foroward to some pics to see what it looks like.
  8. All are off the saws and in a drawer too - because we don't throw "tool" things away around here either.
  9. Kevin - I have that same mask, but haven't had the need to think I need to replace the straps yet. Since they are sort of wide - you could probably get some wide elastic and replace as needed. You might be able to find it in a local Walmart if they have a sewing area or check your local fabric stores. You can probably also find it online. I just measured my straps, they are about 3/4" wide so I would look for 3/4" for 1" wide. Probably need to stay close to the 3/4" width if you want to use the clips head rest that is on the present straps. Here's one type to look for in your local stores. (This one says its 1 1/2" wide but they sell all widths.) I would recommend the non-roll type so that it doesn't "roll up" from the edges. You can also find online at Amazon or online fabric and craft stores. Amazon choices though seem to be a little more "bulk" buys so depends on how often you feel the need to change out the straps.
  10. Beautiful work you have crafted Paul. Thanks for showing.
  11. You are Staying busy Marge and turning out great work. Weather is a bugger for sure when having to work around the elements to get them done.
  12. Beautiful job and glad it worked, thanks for showing.
  13. Welcome back. Nice work. I am sure your granddaughter will love them.
  14. Thank you to all who served our Country. I salute you and thank you and your families for your service.
  15. Dick, do you subscribe to the Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts magazine? If you do, look at the Fall 2018 edition, Issue 72. They did an article on the SpectraPly on page 66. They used it to do several different types of scroll work. They had JGR use some and she created a chameleon with it. Bruce Shea did a beautiful bowl with stars, then they had a puzzle, a bracket, and an ornament. Our Woodcraft store sells small blanks for pen turners of the material. It is not cheap stuff and it takes a while to receive your order from Cousineau because it is "custom-made". The magazine says it starts at $52 for a 3/4" by 9 1/2" by 40" piece. I wanted to give some of it a try so i ordered some thinking hubby might also want some for turning. It seemed to take forever to get it but it finally arrived. I have not yet done anything with it. Given its expense, I guess I am looking for that "perfect" project I want to try.
  16. You mention that you created the doc at home where you had downloaded and installed the Font Umbra. Then you say that you emailed it to yourself at work to print out but that when you opened and printed, it was not the Umbra font. This is because you did not download and install the font on your work computer as well. If you create a document on one computer with one font, and take it to another computer that does not have that font, then it will substitute another font for the one in your document that it does not have. One way around this if you don't want or can't install the font on the work computer is to take the document into a program that lets you create text and then change it to an "object" so it is no longer treated as "text" but as an "object". By doing this, you don't have to worry about whether or not someone or yourself has that font on their computer. If you don't already have a program that you can do this with, you can do it in Inkscape easily enough and it is a free program that most of us here already have.
  17. Very nice and looks like it ties in nicely with your other hobby. Thanks for showing.
  18. Nice work Brenda. I am sure it will be greatly appreciated. Be careful with that flocking kit, it can get everywhere! Don't be flocking those puppies!
  19. I've always loved that statement. Keith did a great job on the pattern, you did a great job in putting it to reality. Your friends will treasure these gifts as well. Thanks for showing. My condolences to your friends. It is very hard to lose a parent.
  20. Paul, maybe you should do a little more cleaning of the dog and his house if you need to spend so much time there with the dog.
  21. Awesome work on those by both of you Pete. However, be careful because as you can see, rabbits are known to proliferate uncontrollably. Start out with 2 and shortly thereafter you have way more then you ever expected. I like the paints your wife used as Marg said, nice and springy. Thanks for sharing your pattern.
  22. Les, couldn't you glue another 5-6" piece of wood to the end of this one and then add the switch to that with double sided tape or something? No muscling needed that way.
  23. Jes, no need to reintroduce yourself, while you may have been gone for a bit, we still know who you are. Glad to have you posting again. Sorry to hear Michael caused you so much trouble.I know your entire area was devastated by Michael. Glad you are getting things situated with your saws and getting a bit of time to do some work with them. Hope things continue in a positive path for you and you have it all repaired soon.
  24. That's why I haven't bought the animal ones yet Marg, can't decide how well I like them. Where did you a the sausage dog one? My brother-in-law have sausage dogs. Always have - they are their children. I might want to make them one if you can tell me where to find the pattern. They would probably love them.
  25. Lot of great work there Pete. You need to keep working on that saw and leave the golf clubs in storage for a bit. Thanks for showing.
