I'm really impressed with the variety you are cutting. I've done the mallard and owl. I have a young friend that loves to paint so I'll have to order more patterns.
I'm glad things are working out for you. I buy large disposable aluminum pans for dipping my projects. I use 50/50 BLO an equal amount of mineral spirits and boiled linseed oil. I do pour the unused amount back into the glass quart jar. It never hardens in the sealed jar. I also place a piece of waxed paper on the mouth of the jr and then apply the cover. It makes removing the cover easier later. I briefly wipe out the pan. Not real well as it will dry hard and after a few uses I throw it out.
Hi Jeff, I'm sure your problem is not near enough blade tension.Lack of sufficient tension forces you to apply excessive pressure to get the blade to cut. I tighten to e above high c. Just kidding of course. BTW, welcome to the Village.
Thanks Kevin.I looked on you tube a while ago but did not find it. It appears the speed selector was at minimum. I do not believe it could happen at full throttle. If I were t level my Hawk it would also pass the nickle test at low speed. The whole thing is academic since I never go beyond 3/4. It was just something that piqued my interest. I appreciate all the feed back. Very interesting.
JT, you are absolutely correct, just like an electrician's ladder. I would like to see a video at full speed to see if that nickel will still stand. I'm a doubter.
Since I got hit by the scrolling bug I have stopped making pens. Kinda consumed by scrolling. I have a bunch of pen kits I should make. I'd like to try making segmented blanks but do not have precision enough equipment to do so. I'll back to it one day though.
