  1. You are in exactly the same situation as me. I'm 82, use a cane as well as a walker in certain situations. Several years ago I had a 8x14 foot shop partitioned out of our garage. I have a stool with casters and a secretarial chair. I just roll around the shop. I go to physical therapy once a week to improve my balance. My wife wants a stair lift for me. I won't be around long enough for it to pay off. My wife does not need it. She just runs up and down. All we old timers can do is just hang in there.
  2. I've had it since the 70's. It is accurate because I added the accurizer which may be found on eBay. I modified the rip fence with the aluminum piece you can see. The original was cheesy. I turned a new arbor so I can use carbide blades used on an angle grinder. Not much is original except the table.
  3. Looks beautiful to me!
  4. A really cool stool. Wonderful work and creative too!
  5. So that's where I saw him. He looked familiar as I just watched the movie recently. Very nice representation!
  6. Here goes, my start on the clock since I think I have all the materials I need. Picture 1: The base with the first layer finished. Estimate time of completion is July 4...2023. I've been cutting the parts for each stage, 50/50 BLO then assembly. I first thought about spraying the BLO after completion but just applying with a small foam brush is working fine. If and when finished I will spray a final finish with a Critter spray gun which I do not have but am itching to get one. Reviews are excellent for smaller projects. Picture 2: This is my old Dremel table saw I've had for many years which I could not bear to give up. I'm finding some of my old modeling tools are coming in quite handy. The plans are fairly good but a really good photograph would help. All the details are there it is just that sometimes my old brain has to think. Something which I abhor.
  7. Quite similar to the crown of the fretwork clock I', attempting to make. The crown is nearly 8" wide I ordered 1/4" X 8 from Ochooch. It is still wrapped and flat. However upon opening is I'm wondering if it will warp. If it does I will resort to also cutting it in three pieces. In the meantime I plan on keeping it from warping by crossing my fingers. That should work. Sorry for the hi jack on this thread.
  8. Thank you. I guess I could spray the 55/50 on after assembly. Clock will be approx. 16" tall. You made a beautiful clock. Hope mine comes out as good.
  9. Next question. I am planning to do a 50/50 BLO treatment before assembly of the few parts I've cut like parts for the base and the trimmings and then pin and glue things together. Does that sound correct? Or, do some of you cut everything first, apply a finish, then assemble everything then spraying a final finish?
  10. Someone on the Village said KleenStrip is the same thing as mineral spirits. So that is what I buy. I hope I have the name and spelling correct. Someone may jump in and correct me if I have that wrong.
  11. Get rid of the bellows. Why do you want the thing blowing sawdust in your face. Can't understand why Hegner would mount their blower pointed at you. Just rig up dust collection and remove the dust and don't eat it. You were working on dust collection so modify it for the Hegner.
  12. Will you make the fonts scrollable? By that I mean putting in the necessary bridges.
  13. It did. But using too much moisture caused it warp in the opposite direction . Im talking about 1/4" wood. Using very light moisture it worked.
  14. Placement is my problem as well.
  15. Dynamite as always!
  16. Gorgeous cross. Nice work!
  17. I like the pattern and the cutting is excellent!
  18. Welcome to the Village Chris. Lots of friendly folks here to help you with most anything. So, ask away, we are willing to help.
  19. Thanks Rolf. It is indeed quiet . Jusa soft purr. I have an 18ga nailer ut did not find 1/2 pins so when I purchased the compressor I purchased a 23ga nailer. Perfect combo. Also thanks to the tip.
  20. Looks terrific!
  21. Scrolling is the most inexpensive hobby I've found. Pen turning can be very expensive unless you sell everything you make. Then machining. Many thousands of $. I've gotten rid of everything except my scroll saws. I've thought of perhaps collecting used shoe strings. That would be inexpensive.
  22. Very nice. I like the bird house but love the upper one!
  23. Very nice cutting and finishing. Great pattern also!
  24. Beautiful job!
  25. Pays to drive slow along some roads. Never know what you will find. I like that. It is farm life for sure.
