  1. I like it Denny. Just a few minutes ago I was looking at a Judy Peterson book that had a lot of dragons in it. Woodcraft has Padauk on sale so I ordered some. I think it will make some good looking dragon puzzles.
  2. John you have done something to be very proud of. You put a lot into it and got a lot out.
  3. Thanks for the very much needed help Charley.
  4. What di us men know about such stuff? I will leave this to the women.
  5. I need some peel and stick felt to put on the base of the cross I made. What I am finding is a wide range of pricing and maybe quality (I am not sure about quality) So I need your help please.
  6. I think you and I use the same mop. I mounted mine on a drill motor and mounted the drill motor on a piece of plywood and clamped it in a vice. It works good. http://www.woodworkingshop.com/product/mm07204/
  7. Bobby I think this might be it. http://www.sawbird.com/scroll_saw_blades.htm#saw_blade_prices http://www.sawbird.com/
  8. You are right Bill. I hang mine up to dry and if I can I reuse them.
  9. I assume most everyone sands their boards before they scroll saw them. I know I do. I sand to at least 220 grit. In my test I did this week with BLO and Watco I found that I like Watco the best at least on oak, Watco gave me a more smooth finish with what most people call a warm glow.
  10. Jim it's a real pain I know. I have this happen when compound cutting and stack cutting. Some times small pieces don't go all the way through. I haven't done it yet but I am going to make another top out of 1/4" MDF. The reason I am going to use MDF is it has a very smooth finish. To make it even more smooth I am going to wax it with Johnson's floor paste wax. It really makes a difference. I have a piece of MDF that I use on my DeWalt thickness planer and waxing it helps a lot.
  11. WOW John those are beautiful.
  12. Like Dan I use sanding mops only on stand up puzzles. I would not use it on fret projects. I had one of the sanding strands get caught it a stand up puzzle part and away it went. (It went way under a bench) So you really need to be careful. I have found other uses for sanding mops around the shop so I am glad I bought them. Yes for good mops they are expensive.
  13. Looks nice hanging on your wall.
  14. Denny do you dip, spray, wipe, or brush shellac?
  15. I did a test about a hour and a half ago using Watco natural and BLO and so far they seem about the same as far as looks go. In your opinion is there a difference if so what is the difference? PS - That is BLO and mineral spirits mixed 50/50.
  16. It is a Steve Good pattern. If you don't know about his patterns just ask and we will help. If you do have his patterns type in "cross99" if you want to make it.
  17. All the plans look pretty old. They might be so old no one cares. Just a thought I really don't know.
  18. Charley that is some good information. I had no idea taking statin drugs could have that effect. Great post.
  19. I want to stain this cross. Is there a easy way to do it? There are a lot of tight places to get the stain into. Of coarse I could leave it natural. What do you think?
  20. And I didn't think it could get worse.
  21. Nick I can remember when Sears had quality tools and very good customer service but now not so much. It's been at least five years since I have even been in a Sears store. If it were me I would take it back and get my money back then start looking for a good scroll saw. I am sorry your having trouble.
  22. I bought three of these, one each of three different grits. While the price is on the high side it is my opinion they are worth the money. Very good quality IMO. http://www.woodworkingshop.com/product/mm07204/
  23. I had to get a magnifier light from the beginning. It helped me a lot.
  24. Pretty good Gordi. I like it and it's a little different.
  25. If y'all remember I took my DW788 back to Woodcraft because it was making noise right out of the box. Woodcraft had an EX16 so I bought it. Most of you like me read at least the start of every thread posted here and there are several threads of people having trouble with their DW 788's even after sending them back. How many threads do you read about an EX going bad? I really think it's not so much the quality of the saw but it's assembly. What I mean by that is very cheap grease and not much of it. Also to some extent the bearings are cheap. I hate that DW is building junk and selling it for a high price. I bet that it wouldn't cost $5 more to put good grease and good bearings in their saw's. I wonder if Travis would have ant influence with DeWalt to get them to do better? I know on the "Router Forum" they have helped solve some woodworker problems. The word gets out about problems on forums like this one their sales are going down. PS For those that have good 788's and are happy with them I am happy for you.
