  1. Tony I can almost make it out but not quite. A picture would really help.
  2. Dick your plaque done real well. We are all happy about the good turn out for the benefit.
  3. Don't worry Les your getting there.
  4. I really was just trying to see if I could get a different look. I let the BLO dry for two days then put the Watco on. I like trying new things. Some time I win but most of the time I loose.
  5. Brian I like that. It's different than anything I have seen.
  6. I am finding that several companies that sell scroll saw supplies are very slow about shipping. I had one company tell me they had been very busy and I said I will help you as much as I can just cancel my order. I have an order from Lesley's that is late myself. Like you Dan I will never order from them again,
  7. I thought I would try to first use BLO & mineral spirits and let it cure then put on Watco Danish oil natural. I was going for a little darker color. I am getting just a little darker color but not much. The real problem is it's not drying like it should. I put the Watco on yesterday mourning about 10 AM and at 5 AM this mourning it's still not completely dry. So if you ever thought about trying this I would say maybe you should reconsider your thinking.
  8. I would like something like this one from Steve Good. This one uses 1/2" thick wood and I like that. I found one from Sue Mey that I kinda like. There are a lot of grosses out there but not to many I like. These will be given away as gifts.
  9. Iggy if each person buy two you will be rich and to tired to spend it. Ohhhh but look at all the fun.
  10. Bobby I can see why that would make you feel good, I know it would me. How about posting a picture of your Festus plaque. I try to watch at least one Gunsmoke show a day. Festus, Doc, and Miss Kitty were all so great. I never will get tired of watching them.
  11. If you come up with a name for the poorest scroller that will be me. I have but one way to go
  12. I always do it with my band saw but not my scroll saw.
  13. It must be nice to be young and able to stand and cut your way to La La land. You ought to have every thing at hand with that new tool box.
  14. Great post Stevan and A great deal on a scroll saw. Now you have to go to work and make something. Just remember we like pictures ""a lot"".
  15. I agree John. You can just do so much more with it. I have had my Ridgid for a little over two years and I like it.
  16. You might also try food coloring. I have bought some but haven't tried it yet but several folks on here have. Also here is a link to buying scroll saw ready to cut wood. You can buy what you need. I and others have ordered from them with good results so you don't have to worry about that. I would not start out buying expensive wood until you have a little experience.
  17. Very very nice. You and Dave make a great team. Dick I believe you do more scrolling than anyone on here. To do what I do it takes a lot of concentration and after about 15 or 20 minutes I have to get up and do something else. I believe if the police gave me a sobriety test I would fail it every time. It's so hard to follow a straight line.
  18. Scott for a fee of I think 50 cents they will email you a pattern. Just for small orders and orders that will fit on a printer page.
  19. Sam I vote for Danish oil natural. It would be hard to keep paint from getting built up in the tight corners and over time it would get messed up. Also Dan "dgman" right in saying use a hard wood that you like the next time. You did a to good of a job cutting these not to use hard wood. Here is a very good place to buy hard wood if you don't have a good source already and if you don't have the tools to mill wood. http://www.ocoochhardwoods.com/
  20. I would do it on a table saw. Miter saws are not that accurate, I know I have one. Invest your money in a good miter gauge for your table saw.
  21. The last clocks "fit ups" I bought were from Klock Kit. I was making four of the same thing but I wasn't going to make them all at the same time which I do a lot. So one of the clocks didn't work and they gave me a big "hoop de doo" about sending me another clock. Since then another one has quite working. I don't like when this happens. I give my stuff away so when something happens they think I ought to fix it for nothing. Bottom line is I am looking for another place to buy from but I sure don't have any ideas.
  22. I think Kevin just meant you are smart and do things the easy way. Like they always said at work "Work smarter not harder". I ALWAYS tried to follow that rule.
  23. Jim you could line the closet you built with foam insulation. You can buy it at home centers. In two of my houses I have insulated my garage doors with this insulation and it works good. It would also work for sound. I just marked it out with a magic marker and cut it with a razor knife and stuck it on with construction glue. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Expanded-Polystyrene-Foam-Board-Insulation-Common-1-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-Actual-0-937-in-x-3-875-ft-x-7-875-ft/3365576
  24. Dick this is a great deed you have done. I have and will pray for little Asher. It's so sad thing like this happen to little kids. Sometimes a person thinks about how bad things are going for them then you see or hear about little Asher and you realize you have no problems at all.
