  1. I dump it in our burn pit, and burn it up with the yard debris.
  2. Maybe not much sawing got done, but the next sawing you do will go a lot better for oiling, cleaning and waxing.
  3. I've never made a rolling pin holder, but I would think they would be like a rifle rack that holds the rifles horizontally. Since rolling pins come in different lengths, might want to find out what lengths and diameters she is wanting to store. Be sure to let us see the results.
  4. The way I do it is to import the pdf, then use the "trace bitmap" command. Separate the image from the traced part and you will be able to work with the traced part, which will be made up of paths. Use the node selection tool and delete the parts you don't need.
  5. That reminds me, I need to get a haircut. Will get one of the free ones tomorrow.
  6. Everyone should have one in their shop. Good job. Tom
  7. I think you are right about the painting making it even better than it is. If you are uncertain about your painting ability, try a practice coloring first, Make a copy of the pattern and try painting that. Let us know how it turns out.
  8. Look in "www.woodfinder.com" for a wood dealer in your area. They will have some thicker woods, even pine, available.
  9. Looks like a great system there. I think if you took all my scroll saw projects I ever made, they might fill one of those. You put in lots of work on your puzzles.
  10. A little while ago Steve Good showed using a laser light to locate the position to top feed, with the work flat on the table. I had tried top feeding and did not like it at all, but after watching his video, I put together one using his ideas. It works great, now I will start using top feeding. This shows his idea. Tom
  11. Awesome pattern and great cutting.
  12. Very nicely done. Thanks for showing
  13. How was the snipe hunt this season, Scrappile? I heard there was a record harvest.
  14. Great job. Looking forward to your '65 GTO project. I had one at one time, and look forward to it.
  15. Cool. I have some of those in my shop for clamping small pieces, but hadn't thought of shaping the ends. Will have to keep that in mind.
  16. Like the idea of reusing scrap plywood. I might try this. I wonder if it would be worthwhile to get some self stick edging veneer and put it around the top? That would hide the raw edge of the plywood and make it more like solid wood.
  17. I use those same tubes to store my blades, and keep them all in a plastic box. Then I made a small holder for one tube which I attached to the scroll saw stand, so I could keep the tube I am currently using close to hand. The box is stored under the scroll saw stand.
  18. It looks like some of the honey locust I have used in the past. Didn't notice any green color on it, though.
  19. Good job on the cutting. I have heard of guys grinding the pins shorter to get them in smaller holes. Sounds like less work than cutting small pins, then looking for them in the sawdust under my workbench.
  20. I have used transparent shelf liner to cover the table on my DeWalt, and it works pretty well. Don't even have to wax the table to get it slippery.
  21. I got my nickname in the military, 45 years ago. I am a ginger, and was the tallest in my unit. The Jolly Green Giant was a popular commercial at the time, so the others in my unit started calling me the Jolly Red Giant. I have shortened it to just Jolly Red. My real name is Tom, which is a lot more boring.
  22. You might want to look into one of the units that is a combination belt sander and oscillating spindle sanders.
  23. I sand before and after, also sand while cutting, if there are significant fuzzies on the back. I just keep a block sander with 150 grit at the scroll saw for this. This was recommended in Patrick Spielman's book on beginning scroll sawing, which is what I used to learn scroll sawing (no internet back then, and didn't know any local scrollers).
  24. Thanks for the pattern. I grabbed a copy.
