  1. I fixed it. I have a nerve issue in my left arm that causes some of my fingers to have delayed reaction times. This causes me to make many transposition errors when I type. Grammarly usually catches and corrects these errors, but it doesn't work in the post-title space.
  2. I would probably us JB Weld or something similar. A new board costs $82. To me, repair is not worth the effort. I could do this myself if need be.
  3. It's not that big of a challenge. I have had this one apart three times now.
  4. About two weeks ago, my EX-21 stopped while I was cutting a made-to-order project. I switched saws and finished the project. Yesterday I got a chance to start working on it. It had to be something electrical, so I began testing at the power outlet and worked through all the electrical parts. Everything worked as expected. The last thing I tested was the motor, and it was OK, so it had to be the controller board. I replaced the board with an old one I had, and it is back online. While disassembling the saw, I realized I needed to be careful with the plastic parts because if I broke one, I might not be able to get another one.
  5. I have two bandsaws, one set up for scroll cuts and the other set up for resawing. I switch bandsaws, not blades. The only time I change a blade is if it breaks (rare) or the blade is dull.
  6. I get the catalog every year. I haven't purchased any of their large power tools but bought many smaller things from them. I have purchased clamps, parts, assorted hand tools, drill chucks, drill chuck arbors, and a rotary tool. I own a Grizzly drill press that I bought, used, and refurbished. I have found their customer service to be top-notch.
  7. MDF works great for toys and most puzzles. Like you, I had some free MDF and experimented with it. It paints great, but you need to seal it, especially the edges. I used white acrylic paint, recoating and sanding until it stopped soaking in. This toy cars bodies made from MDF:
  8. I have purchased many refurbished items, tools, and electronics. One of my current monitors, my Epson scanner, and the inkjet printer I have used for a long time were refurbished, as were all of my Hitachi tools. Every computer I have owned for many years is refurbished. Today, I have seven refurbished computers on hand. Today, I am a DeWalt tool guy because I had a project for which I needed battery-operated tools, and DeWalt was the only one suitable at the time. Now, I had the batteries, so the next time I wanted a new power tool, I bought DeWalt bare tools. None of the DeWalt tools were refurbished because I can usually buy new ones for less.
  9. Harbor Freight Tools is not publicly owned. It is a privately held family business.
  10. I bought a refurbished 12-inch Hitachi sliding compound miter saw for a project many years ago. If it ever needs to be replaced, I would buy the Hercules. I found it interesting that I have 80-90% of the Harbor Freight items recommended in the video in my shop.
  11. They don't have to watch it if they don't like it.
  12. The plywood itself may be the problem, but this isn't likely if it is truly baltic birch. dull or poor quality bit forcing the bit through the wood plywood not flat against the backer board plywood lifting off the backer board drill speed to low
  13. An excellent point.
  14. There isn't a magic formula.
  15. I have a battery-powered handheld blower that I use for this.
  16. What kind of spray bottle do you use? I have not found one in which the mineral sprits would not destroy the seals quickly.
  17. Does mobile data not work for payments?
  18. It depends on the adhesive. For 3M77, mineral spirits work great but dry slowly. Denatured alcohol also works with 3M77 but not as well as mineral spirits; however, it dries much faster. I have run across some adhesives that neither of these will dissolve. I would start with the cheapest solvent and work my way up until I find the one that works for me.
  19. I generally don't resaw boards. I mostly make toys, fretwork shelves, and ornaments. If I have something to make where I do not have thin enough wood, I cut it from thick stock and resaw the part after it is cut. You don't need a lot of power to do this. You can buy wood in just about any thickness you want. Ocooch Hardwoods is a good place to purchase thin wood. You may not need a bandsaw if all you do is scroll saw work.
  20. I try to prepare for the Christmas rush every year. I just want to make sure I have plenty of packing materials and other supplies on hand. Maybe I should ignore it.
  21. I rarely print anything with color. I have played around with colors for patterns and didn't see any advantage. I suspect my color toner will go bad before I run out.
  22. Since I began selling online, I have sold more in January than in December. I shipped four packages yesterday, and I have another order this morning. I have never seen the Christmas rush that people talk about. Although this year, I did have a large custom ornament order, that was ordered and shipped well before the "rush."
  23. I would not be too concerned about it. I have discussed this with Steve in the past. He is slightly better with the names, but I think he still lives in the old DOS 8.3 naming convention.
  24. His naming and descriptions are terrible.
