  1. Have you talked to Seyco about the parts you need?
  2. I think you misunderstood the conversation. Danish oil comes in several colors. Even Zinsser Clear Shellac is not really clear. I was wondering if the top coating would change the color of the original Danish oil finish, not the wood. In any case, why not just use shellac?
  3. I took several weeks, as I recall. I make a lot of things that are made to order, and this is completely unacceptable. The piece was fine.
  4. I've considered getting some FastCap zero clearance tape, but I am concerned it might make my cuts slightly out of square.
  5. Speed tape looks like some handy stuff to have around the shop.
  6. Titebond makes 30 different glues.
  7. How fast is quick? You may want to consider Titebond Speed Set or Titebond Quick & Thick. They both have short working times. For the projects I make, these are too fast. I only use CA glue for specific purposes due to its expense, short shelf life, and safety issues. After throwing out several bottles of CA glue, I now only use the small tubes sold at Harbor Freight. I open the tube, use it, and throw the remainder away.
  8. The knob is used to adjust the arm so that it is parallel to the table. Not level with the floor.
  9. The craft paints I use that require primer are yellow and orange. It cuts the number of coats of paint needed in half. White primer makes the color brighter.
  10. I don't usually use a primer. However, I think some colors require a white base. For this, I use paint or a shellac-based primer.
  11. I look at all of them.
  12. I have been wanting to make a cradle for my granddaughter. Is there a pattern available for this one? Never mind, I found it.
  13. It can be very difficult to cut.
  14. I spent hours trying to get Grok to draw a simple cutable scroll saw pattern. It never got close.
  15. I like to use a steel rule as a guide and lightly score the paper with a sharp knife. The weight of the knife is usualy enough. Once scored, the paper will bend right on the score, and it is easy to line up on the corner of the wood.
  16. Here is what I do on my EX-21/Pegas saws. This might not work for a DeWalt saw. Insert the blade into the top clamp as close to vertical as I can get and tighten the clamp. Insert the blade into the bottom clamp and tighten. Flip the lever to tension the blade. Release the tension. Release the lower clamp and retighten. Retention and now the blade is vertical.
  17. If you keep it waxed, nothing will stick to it. I have owned four scroll saws for over forty years and never had grime build up on a table, or rust for that matter. I wonder what he has been cutting on his saw.
  18. I was going to suggest the same.
  19. I have seen several of Steve's patterns uploaded here, whole and in part, in the past. This is just a reminder that he doesn't want the patterns uploaded to other sites. See today's blog post.
  20. I don't think it is stoced anywhere. You have to order it.
  21. I have used the maple 1/4-inch panels. I like them. They have many options.
  22. Sand-O-Flex seems to be used a lot by wood carvers.
  23. I did that with a pile of random narrow pieces of wood I had collected. I now have a pile of 1.5-inch squares ready for me to find time to cut them into birdhouses.
