  1. Thank you. Dr Ford is such a nice “small town” vet and has saved us hundreds of dollars through the years. It’s past time I returned the favor. Felix Ano Nuevo!!!
  2. Great job! I'm 61 and I still love playing with magnets!
  3. Nice job and very jealous of the outdoor fireplace!
  4. ***My OCD won. I went back to the shop and hunted through all the wood chips on the floor and fond the broken piece of the F and epoxied it back on. *** We have a great vet and he just got a new partner so I made them a welcome sign. I won’t call attention to the piece that fell out of the F.
  5. Loved this pattern and wanted a piece of wood with some character to cut it on. Looked through all my bits and pieces and found this piece of oak with a live edge. It's about 5" X 7". I know some don't like this much coloration on a portrait and I get it. Personally I see it more as the piece as a whole coming together to make an art piece. Kind of like how Mt. Rushmore might have been a bit more polished cut from a square piece of granite, but wouldn't have been nearly as majestic. No right and wrong, just different views. Happy New Year everyone! H Botas pattern available here. https://www.etsy.com/listing/869966491/jesus?click_key=394d54e4281a09de4f5f2b794a437927d62c7156%3A869966491&click_sum=b00911b6&ref=shop_home_recs_1
  6. That's beautiful. I love that the handles are hearts. The wood is gorgeous. Great piece!
  7. Looks excellent!
  8. Thank you. I'm having fun playing around with the compound cutting. Lots of room for imagination. I've got some of that firewood!
  9. I can see where that would be confusing. I did the video because it's hard to capture the illusion of this type of a cutting with just photos. I started to give up after 3 tries, but it bothers me more than it should to fail/mess up. I'm glad I tried one more time, but I'd also like to learn to deal with blunders without it affecting my mood.
  10. Took 4 tries to get this one right so I made some nice mahogany kindling. video-1639605627.mp4
  11. These mess with my brain a little. Lots of fun though. video-1639522410.mp4
  12. Wow! Great cutting on a cool project!
  13. I have cut this one a few times. You did a great job!
  14. Beautiful work!
  15. Great job! Love his paintings!
  16. My first attempt at the snowman turned out to be tiny little kindling. Takes some practice plus the right wood helps too. I cut one today from some wood a man gave me and said it was Mahogany. I'm not sure if it was but it was a bit softer than oak and was much easier to work with. The first one I cut was from pine and it was way too fragile.
  17. Not sure if you're joking, but I didn't want to ignore your question if you're serious. It's a compound cut, which means it's cut from one side of the wood, then turned 90 degrees and cut from another side. The insides and outsides fall away leaving this. Not the best explanation but it's a start.
  18. Really nice job on that! Slick as a button, we used to say!
  19. Excellent cutting!
  20. I reduced this pattern, mostly so I could use a 1" square stick of oak and make the cutting a bit easier. I'm really enjoying playing with compound cutting lately. We have such a wonderful, diverse hobby.
  21. Thanks. I don't think I had used the font before, too much trouble to cut small. But I thought it was great for this. Cool how something that seems flawed or not useful can be perfect in the right situation. Life lesson in there somewhere.
  22. Nice! Happy little project!
  23. If the compass on your GPS isn't working properly, it may be because I swiped the North Pole and stuck it in my front yard for Christmas.
  24. Very nice job! I like this quote from the movie Castaway when facing rough days. "Now I know what I have to do now. I gotta keep breathing, because tomorrow the sun will rise. Who knows what the tide could bring?" Hang in there.
  25. Sure does. When I looked at your cuttings it made me think how many people don't make it to the joy of aging together.
