Nova shows up in the third/last movie of the newer series . These movies chronologically precede the one with Charlton Heston so she is the younger Nova who winds up as Charlton's mute companion in the 1968 film.

This is Nova, from Planet of the Apes. If you're not familiar, she was named for the chrome Nova logo like this one that she liked. In this picture she is riding horseback behind Caesar the head ape, carrying a handmade doll that ends up playing a huge part in the demise of the evil Woody Harrelson. 1/2" red oak, about 8" X 10".

I think you're headed in the right direction. You're wise to seek advice but the best advice in the world won't replace time spent sawing. Don't know if you're using a magnifying light but it was night and day for me when I got one. I want to upgrade but I've been using a $39.95 Harbor Freight model for several years. I was amazed what a difference actually seeing the line clearly made.

Fun cut. Bought a file on Etsy for making shirts, decals, etc. and was able to make it scrollable. Love this character. Didn't end well for him in the movie though.
