    I haven't put any finish on and haven't decided whether I'll be using a black backer or dark brown. There's a couple of worm holes in this piece of oak and I was going to fill them, but I'm sure Stan has written about some "worm holes" so I thought I'd leave them.

    Thanks Dave. No stain and 50/50 BLO and mineral spirits. I usually use Danish Oil but our Lowes has been out of it for a long time now.

    I know and it's a shame. My home is nearly 50 years old and I imagine the shelf was about as old as the house.

    No telling how many folks have cut this one. This old piece of pine shelving from my carport closet worked well with the pattern I think. Another one for the shop wall.

    Yeah, in my mine he's closer to folk music than Rock and Roll. A couple of my favorites are Handy Man and Carolina In My Mind.

    No, of course not. Help yourself. Not much of a precise pattern but I had fun with it. I'm loving using the pencil generator. Makes for a very lifelike image. Good luck with it! Merry Christmas!

    Me too. I'm only 60 but I've had 5 neck surgeries fusing my entire neck so I have my share of aches and scrolling sometimes adds to it. Not much to complain about compared to so many others though. And I'm blessed with the best family I could ask for so I'm enjoying every moment as well.

    Thanks Paul. I spent some time on them. I'm working from a pencil sketch of an actual picture. I got it by using a pencil sketch generator on the internet. You can play around with it a bit, making the lines more or less defined. It's not like cutting from a pattern but it's fun deciding what to cut as you go. It's a nice change of pace anyway. I'll post a picture of what I'm using to cut from when I finish.

Didn't turn out exactly like I envisioned, but do they ever. He'll live on my shop wall so he's good enough. I used this as a pattern. It is a pencil sketch I tweaked a little done with a pencil sketch generator on the internet.

    I love Charles Dicken's, A Christmas Carol. Our family's favorite movie version is The Muppet Christmas Carol. I made one of these for each of my 3 kids. The wood is red oak. The stain is Barn Red from Minwax. Comes in handy around Christmas!

    Very simple Nativity scene but I love it. I think the one I copied was actually done on a bandsaw. I think the simplicity fits well with the event it depicts. Merry Christmas everyone!
