  1. I admit I chew mine up a bit occasionally. I think it has to do with cutting thicker hardwood and being impatient.
  2. Very nice project. Great job!
  3. Nice job! The pallet wood backers are a cool touch.
  4. I surprised my next door neighbors with a portrait of their beautiful 4 year old daughter. I think they liked it. The daughter however held it back out to me and said, "You can keep it."
  5. Thanks so much for all the kind words everyone!
  6. I love it. I like things that let your minds eye fill in the blanks. Don't know what size it is but this horse hide would make a cool backer. https://www.amazon.com/Leather-Weight-Tooling-Genuine-Supplies/dp/B087BNX1R6/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=SHWI8BURUESR&dchild=1&keywords=horsehide+leather&qid=1593696670&sprefix=horsehide+%2Caps%2C223&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExMllKVTVPWE9HS0dVJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDU4NzAxUDBERkdWTTkyWjdBJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA1NTQ1NzFNUVE3MDZCUEM3Vzcmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl
  7. Out of the park! I know he'll appreciate now, but over the years he'll just appreciate it more. Fantastic gift!
  8. Good job and funny pic!
  9. Dave, that's gorgeous! That's one of those things that will be around in 2220 if the world lasts that long. Can I ask, did you just change the order of the pieces on the drawers? I'm gonna have to try this. As for the drawers not fitting tightly, it's sure not noticeable. As everybody says we're our own worst critics. The routing worked perfectly. Reminds me of a favorite quote. "If you can't hide it, advertise it."
  10. Hey everybody. I haven't been in the shop much the last couple of months. I started metal detecting and I'm a little addicted. A friend who has bought a couple of things from me sent a FB message saying her son just got married and is away in the military. He and his wife love the outdoors and their 2 dogs, a lab and a husky. Anyway she said if I ever did anything with a couple and two dogs she wants to buy it. Put this together using clip art, I can't draw. Found out they honeymooned at the ocean. The piece of Walnut had 2 knots which I didn't like because I wanted the bigger knot to be the sun. The smaller one had an x shaped crack in it so I turned it into an eagle. Since her son is serving us it'll be free of course. Hope everyone's doing well.
  11. So great! Your work is never disappointing, always amazing!
  12. Beautifully done Dave! See Cardinals pretty much every day at our backyard feeder.
  13. Nice cutting Les.
  14. Love your happy place!
  15. I've dealt with depression for over a decade. A poor performance on the scroll saw can set mine off as well. Depression lies, tells us we may as well quit because we obviously don't have what it takes. The most comforting thing is sometimes just knowing you're not alone.
  16. Yes that's it but I don't know how much extra height you get as I haven't removed mine.
  17. Nice job!
  18. Really, really nice!!! Way to get outside the box. So much time and work in that I'm sure.
  19. Thanks Kevin! I appreciate it. I like the thick wood too.
  20. Wish you had a picture of the smashed glass designs. That's sounds cool! Nice job on the cutting.
  21. Very very nice! I'm usually not a big fan of Poplar but you made that look beautiful. I may have to try one of those. Thanks for posting.
  22. Maybe we should scroll a word pattern reminder to double check before we attach the backer. And attach it backwards to drive the point home! May just do that.
  23. Yes he is. Even not knowing of him the movie would be worth a watch. He was just such a gentle, soft spoken, amazing man that it might make you wonder if he was really like that or was it just an act. But yes, he was. If you've got 4 minutes this is an amazing clip of the real Fred Roger testifying before the Senate in 1969.
  24. I cut this fun pattern by @lawson56 of The Monkeys for my shop wall today. Got in a rush to finish and nailed the backer to the front. Not my first time to do this. Thankfully the back side looked about as good as the front in this case. I loved watching these guys on Saturday mornings as a kid, so I'll enjoy seeing them on my wall. Even if it's a mirror image. 1/2" oak, about 6 1/2" X 9"
