    I hate that I never saw him in concert. My son went to a Bob Dylan concert a few years ago and he was there. Odd pairing, but my son was very impressed with Merle though he didn't know him beforehand. Very unique voice.

    Thanks Clayton. Yes I made the pattern but I'm not a polished pattern maker. It's a bit rough and I changed/added a few things as I went along. If you'd like a copy send me a private message. Maybe you could work with it.

    Merle Haggard is one of my favorite singers. He passed away in 2016. 1/2" white oak. About 7" x 7"

    Seeing him in concert was on my bucket list so a few years ago my wife bought us 3rd row tickets. It was great to see him live and he did his best but age has forced him to take it easy and he speaks more lyrics that he sings. I imagine all the smoke has taken a toll, but he's 86 and still touring so maybe it's preserving him.

    Don't know whose pattern this is but it looks really lifelike for the small amount of detail. I've been a Willie fan for over 40 years. This is about 4" x 5" on 1/2" red oak. The backer is Monkeypod.

    Connie is an absolutely wonderful wife, and absolutely not impressed with my work! I try to make myself not show her things I make because I know she going to look at it and say, "Uh huh." But I'm always sure this time will be different. Nope. Still, she's a wonderful wife and I love her!

    No problem at all! Here's the picture I used. Just edited it a bit. I added the other side of the prongs on the top of the chain link fence as I cut it since they didn't show in the picture. I added the three birds in the sky to add to the symbolism, for me anyway.

    Found this picture of a bird on a fence and it made me think of how we sometimes complain about our situation when our choices are to blame. Made for an easy scroll saw project. I added some birds in the sky to show we can change if we so choose. I suppose an alternate title could be "The Birds of Alcatraz".
