  1. Felt a little girly cutting this but I really like the image and the message. I bought it at https://www.etsy.com/listing/716358847/scatter-kindness-dandelion-digital-file?ref=shop_home_active_8&pro=1 for $1.95 if anyone is interested. The wood is black walnut, about 5" X 7".
  2. Very nice! May have to give that a shot one day.
  3. Simple but easily recognizable!
  4. I was really impress even before I realized the sides were inlay also. I'm not sure you can find anything more valuable that the box to put in it! Humbled by your inlay skills!
  5. proof reed
  6. cool design and great job!
  7. Thanks for the kind words. No I don't. For one thing, I hate making frames. And since it's 1/2" oak I like how it looks without one.
  8. Thank you so much. Wish I had a dozen more pieces just like it. Wouldn't be as special then though would it. Just glad I didn't ruin such a gorgeous piece of lumber. I was selling it at a fundraiser for childhood cancer tomorrow but my daughter in law spotted it on facebook so it's already sold, money still going to the charity of course. At least it stays in the family this way.
  9. Worked with a beautiful piece of wood today! Again inspired by the work of Fiona Kingdon. I found some cows and a windmill on a free photo site and placed them and the fence posts where the wood said they should go. Wish I could free hand them but I can't draw a stickman. Half inch oak. Measures about 7" by 9"
  10. Ever had one of those 3 AM ideas that seem brilliant, but realize it's stupid in the morning. That's how the yesterday idea seemed. Not the first time and won't be the last.
  11. I was aiming for nostalgic, I think I hit hokey. I Iike the wood though. *I couldn't take the hokeyness so I cut "yesterday" off. Now I like it. May put it on a shelf in our laundry room.
  12. Hi Ralph. I bought several boards like this at a local antique/craft shop. One of the booths has various kinds of air dried lumber. I think the color may be due to how it was dried, maybe some fungus causing some spalting in the area that l used as land. I guess a better answer would be, I don't really know. I got around 6 boards for $20 so it's dirt cheap, but it has some beetle holes in it so I have to deal with making sure they're taken care of/dead. I heat it up to 140 degrees for a couple of hours in the warming drawer on our oven.
  13. That is great. May be in my future. Thanks for the video.
  14. Nice job. They'll be cool gifts.
  15. Nice job. Lots of hours at the saw right there.
  16. Nice job. I've cut a few of those. They always take me longer than I think they will.
  17. Cool looking tiger! Isn't it great to have a hobby that allows you to make unique things to give people who could use a ray of sunshine! I just Googled images of Islay. I'm extremely jealous!
  18. Yes it is. I had it attached and just didn't like the way it looked. I made it a floater and sanded it down so that it is a bit recessed giving it more of a 3D look though it doesn't show in the picture
  19. Hi Matt. I added the pattern to the pattern library. It is in New Patterns.
  20. Inspired by the work of Fiona Kingdon. 1/2" air dried red oak.
  21. I like it a lot. Makes me a little uneasy after seeing The Revenant.
  22. Obviously there are varying opions. No one is right or wrong. Personally I love a beautiful piece of wood much more than a piece of BB plywood. Doesn't make me right. I realize people are referring to the wood and not the cutting, still not sure there is a need to point out what you don't like about other peoples work. Still no hard feeling.
  23. Thank you Melanie!
  24. Excellent job all around!!!
  25. Beautiful work Paul.
