  1. Great job on all of those! I love the cat. I use Folkart Ultra Dye which comes in some great colors but is water based also and raises the grain. As far as I can tell there isn't anything considered child safe that isn't water based so I guess there's no way around it.
  2. Nice original work. I especially like the leaves.
  3. Happy looking piece Kevin. Nice job.
  4. That looks great. I played him in a school play 40 something years ago.
  5. Great job on all of it Marg. Makes me smile.
  6. Those are really cool and you really did a great job cutting them! I'm guessing they are used as tree ornaments?
  7. That's some beautiful work Dave.
  8. Thanks Melanie. Just one though. I cut it in 1/2" oak so too thick to stack cut. It took several hours so it'll probably stay one of a kind. It's going to live at his house.
  9. Beautiful picture. Great job.

    Amos

Portrait of my youngest grandson Amos. He'll be 2 the 15th of this month. I spent many hours/days on the pattern trying to capture his smiling eyes. I came close but God's a better artist.
  11. I don't have the right bit for that. I had planned on cutting it out with the scroll saw like an inlay so it would recess down into itself and cut/sand the bottom part off. Then I realized the cab wouldn't fit under the scroll saw arm. I think a router would present the same type problem with the cab. I used a 1" fostner bit on the drill press making multiple cuts and smoothed it our a bit with a drum sander on my Dremel. Not a real polished finish but my target audience shouldn't notice.
  12. Great job! All three are winners.
  13. Chuffed as mintballs...that's a good thing right?
  14. My youngest grandson, Amos, loves the Little Blue Truck children's books and is having a Little Blue Truck birthday party for his 2nd birthday. I made him a "fleet" of them for party favors.
  15. I like that!
  16. Like everyone else I'm a fan of the wood choice. Great job!
  17. Great work. Are the lines in the boots burnt?
  18. A young girl in our community is battling leukemia. I made a portrait for them today from a photo they posted on Facebook. The outlook is bleak for her as there is no type of treatment left. Love your family!
  19. Nice job on a very cute bunny. One recently made the mistake of getting inside our backyard fence. My wife's sweet lab ate most of it.
  20. That is really cool.
  21. Very nice! Cute little tiger.
  22. I've accidentally sprayed glue on a finished piece too.
  23. I wish I knew Paul. I get it from pallets at a local tractor supply store. Large mowers are shipped on them. It's usually not very pretty, sort of blotchy, when planed but has good looking sawmill marks on it so I sometimes just sand it and use it for rustic frames, etc. This piece came out with some pretty grain when I planed it. It's extremely hard and dense, not porous at all. The piece here has no stain. I think I'm allergic to it because I get a sore throat and congestion when I breath too much of it. I try to use a mask but I hate them in hot weather. The temptation of free wood is greater than my allergies I guess.
  24. The house next door has a great screened in back porch and we’re getting new neighbors so I made them a house warming present.
  25. Hope they realize they got a steal.
