  5. According to the dictionary by Merriam-Webster, America's most trusted online dictionary for English word definitions, meanings, and pronunciation: a "pile of frames" is "a target-shooting arrowhead without cutting edges " like that which is coming right at you, so DUCK! "
  6. Ok so dumb question: Are the breaks actually raised like peeling paint or is it flat and smooth?

  18. Just wondering those that make their own frames: Do you stock pile frames? Do you typically make the standard size frames: 8" x 10", 11" x 14" etc.and cut your scroll works to fit the frame or do you make the frames to fit the scroll works? So far most of the frame I've made have been custom to fit the size of the scroll work. A few have been "accidents" or test frames that I just kept at what ever size I ended up with and fit the cuts to the frames. But since I currently only use 1/8 and 1/4 BB ply it seems I could make standard size frames and cut the pieces to fit the frames. Thoughts? Thanks as always in advance
  19. Being new to all this I've only used a few different blades. Currently, my goto blades are the Pegas 3 and5 UR - they work the best for me. I do have Olson and FD sample packs and I've used a few of them, but since finding the Pegas I've not used the other brands The pinned Olson blades are only used in my Wen so they get seldom usage now. I just ordered another sample pack of Pegas blades so I'll see from those if any get used more I think one problem for new scrolls is once we get "comfortable" with a blade we don't or are afraid to step out of that comfort zone. As to how many is enough my thoughts are enough is relative to what you need - some may only need a few, while others who do more varied work will need more. I know as I progress and take on different projects that use different technique I should be trying different blades.
  20. Um, I can't read German I'm similar - a pack rat and love to save my magazines - they do take up too much room, and I usually will get rid of them after 5 or so years :( I still have my Britannica's they cost me so much I have an aversion to throwing them out and the charities don't want them either

  24. Welcome - love you clock works!
  25. Just wondering - I've done dozens of jigsaw puzzles and I top them with puzzle glue - would this be a no no for scrolling? Thinking the glue would probably stick to the blade? Didn't mean to hijack the thread Thanks in advance
