  3. do you have a link to the pattern? Usually, you find the pinterest, click it and it should open a window or tab to the website Another way is to right click on an image and select "View Image" then Right click and select "Save Image as' and save to your hard drive Hope that helps
  4. You must be a mind reader - the wife was just admiring your "peeps" and asked if we had that pattern LOL Well, now we do, thanks for the pattern
  5. Thanks Kevin - great explanations and greatly appreciated!
  6. Preface: I'm still working with plywood 1/8-1/4 - I've done a few 3/4", but I've stopped doing them cause I suck at them I'm not really looking for tried and true answers, but more on what you all use and how you decide on what thickness you'll use - I'll ask about wood choice at a later date LOL The questions I've got several projects currently waiting for cutting. They're glued and drilled just waiting their turn. Most are stacked at least 2 up - I find this to be the easiest for me to cut decently atm. However, one issue I wrestle with is how/when to decide what thickness of wood to use when I finally go back to non plywood. I think Clocks and puzzles would be 1/2-3/4" and not stacked - yes? Portraits 1/8,1/4,1/2 stacked - yes? Ornaments - like xmas stuff, hanging stuff this is where I tend to lose it - I've been using 1/8-1/4 seems to work fine What about segmentations? Non plywood? I realize it's all subjective, but being new it's really difficult to decide if what I am cutting would have been better on a thicker piece of wood Thanks as always in advance
  7. Nice one Lew - is that reclaimed wood?

  9. You know, a place where you place/hang your finished works? I'm about to finish a bunch of cuts I've made over the past several weeks and wondering what everyone does with their finished pieces... aside from selling them of course. Thanks in advance
  10. I don't have room to put something like that on my wall LOL - but hey, if it works, who cares!

  16. Nicely done - thanks for sharing - newbie my butt LOL
  17. I use tight bond glue (red and blue) on my projects - heat works wonders - the vinegar has not worked for me on any of projects - The directions I've read on using vinegar says to "inject" the vinegar however I've found it soaks into the wood too much and damages the wood and unable to hold glue afterwards - at least that has been my experience
  18. I've tried this - didn't work for my project - made a mess of the wood
  19. I have unglued one too many items - thanks to the wood working class I took. Here is what I've discovered: Heat is good - Either with a heat gun or a hair dryer if you don't have a heat gun Heat the area where the glue is and if you get it pliable enough you will be able to just remove the item and then sand down the glued area. If you are unable to get the glue pliable enough from the heat to just separate the pieces, take an exacto or other blade type tool and slice the glued area. You should "feel" the blade slide in and the glue "give" a little - work the blade into the glue by slicing along the glued seam. You may need to reheat the area One thing about heat guns is to be careful not to burn the wood or yourself as the ends of the gun and where the heat emanates from get very hot so wear gloves if you have them - not nitrite gloves but real gloves like work gloves or leather etc. Hope that helps
  20. Thanks for sharing - that a real nice piece. My band doesn't cut well enough to split items - lucky you!
  21. Nicely done - thanks for sharing
  22. Very cool - the candle holders are my fav, they look very exclusive - thanks for sharing

  25. Whenever there are thunderstorms I shut down the shop. I have UPS' on all our computers and TV's in the house, but not in the shop. My area is prone to power outages and spikes during these storms and can really destroy electrical equipment Do you all work in your shops during thunder and lightning?
